I have seen a few people doing this. I have a couple questions. Can you wet sand it when your finished so its nice and flat or will there always be orange peel? second how long will it last?

How the heck does that look rolled to you?!? I would think the overspray on the paper would make it obvious to anyone with eyes and a brain to interpret the data from them.

That looks awesome for $50! White hides all, so when you put it together and pull it out in the sun it's going to look like a several hundred dollar spray job at least.

Thanks to all. Yes you can wet sand it, I sprayed it, I tried rolling it on before and it too turned out terrible. As far as how long it last, I saw a website a guy made showing his roll on paint job over three years and it still looked amazing. Basic what it all boils down to on the finish is how much time you spend on it. prep is the most important part. after that it's the wet sanding and the number of coats you put down. I have a lot of wet sanding to do as this is my first time using the pray gun so there are tons of runs and I didn't mix the paint correctly the first time so it started to separate form having too much mineral spirits in it. all in all I am very happy with the end result and have a lot more work to do but in the end it should shine really well when I'm done. Keep in mind the pictures you saw are only 2 coats. I plan on doing a total of 7 or 8 coats. Also I am painting my wheels bronze so it should look sick.I'll post pictures of the wheels too. I'm all about budget paint. I'm just using some hardware store rattle can bronze because that's just how I roll I did the last paint job on my wheels that way and it was great. sorry for the novel. keep the comments and pointers coming. I'll keep the pictures coming.

Yea 7-8 is a little much. Me and a buddy who is a body guy were talking about paint and he said that after about 4 or 5 you really cant tell the difference any more.

I really like the wheels. But isn't the paint on the bumper just going to spider web all over because there is no flex to the paint?

I'm sure it will flex, I just don't care enough to bother with it. I'll take a look at it at 4 coats and see what it looks like. The wheels look a little too gold and not enough bronze to me I think I'll be looking for some smoky clear or something.

You can always rattle can the bumpers with the Krylon spray paint for plastic if does flake off. I'm going for a do it your self paint job next weekend when my body work is done. I think I'll run down to Home Depot and take a look at some rust-oleum first.

Hahahah I used to be a house painter and thats the stuff we used to use to spray paint railings and iron doors . Dube be prepared to have a yellowish looking car in a about a year . And another thing, that paint aint flexible at all so be carefull. On the other hand the paintjob came out good for $50 bucks

It will yellow even with UV resistant clear coats?

Ummm that I can't answer cus we never really put clearcoat on any of the oil based paints since they are already glossy as it is. but most likely it will cus its white and for sum reason it always tends to get yellow. thats why we would always put a different kind of white instead of just plain white. You should have gone with a different kind of white if you were to use that type of paint that way it helps a little against yellowing.

That looks awesome, them wheels are going to look great, white on bronze/ gold is such a great combo. Iim thinking about doing a budget paint job on my daily cavalier. I have done 2 other budget paint jobs on a rx7 and my integra and they turned out awesome. But i have never tried the rustoleum, im going to looking into that

So what kind of different paint? Even if I have to freshen it up in a year or so I can deal with that and I have plenty of cans of white spray paint for the bumpers. I am now thinking about putting a clear on it with what has been said about it turning yellow.

It looks great, ive painted my wheels it just hasnt kept up, either ill powdercoat, or get new wheels. You dont need to spend a lot of money on paint. There are lots of options out there.

I didnt know you can use non automotive paint to paint your car. That is fanatastic
