I don't see why the upper hose needs modification.

I think its because hes mounting the radiator on the drivers side. Althought that specific style machined aluminum mounting plate with an "an style" fitting does seem like a step in the wrong direction.

and this thermostat on the radiator you talk about zero? where exactly do you plan on putting it? before the lower radiator hose? The reason i ask that is because i just dont see a more economical location than the original location.

I think the shop has everything figured out already. I wouldn't worry about where the location or placement of anything is at this point. In all honesty, it's wherever the hell you want to put it.

Good point. So let's hear more about this shop... what shop is it? Who runs it?

No offense, because I really appreciate the work you're doing for the country -- but it seems like the shop is doing most of the design work, and all of the building at this point.

YES YES YES.......no offense taken
i just wish i had skills like that. but......I just droped the car off and said go crazy......and thats what there doing.

I told them i want to compete in SFWD and the car need to adhear to all the rules and regs
I want to run 9's....." i know that is up to me as a driver but i need a capable machine"
I want 700 plus hp no nitrous
I want it to be as light as possible

and they said ok.

I know they pretty much handle everything but there the professionas not me of course i do have say so in everything but i just let them do what they do.

The shop has put 7 cars into D-sport and turbo mag .....and hopefully ill get there also.

owner is Brent
fabricator is Jeff

The whole thing is just incredible! Forgive me for asking but since it's a turbo'd 420 it's front wheel drive right? Might sound like a dumb question. man Be careful over there! I'm prior military and so is my dad and my two brothers in law's and my nephew have all been over there. I got stuck in a unti that didn't go. I hope everything works out safe and sound for you and you get to hammer this missile of a car when you get home. My nephew was there for a year and a half. Hes been back for almost 7 months now and still has nightmares. One night they were being fired on and they got permission to return fire so they just let loose. He was a gunner on top of a hummer. When they were done they found out they were being fired upon by a group of 8 to 10 year old kids who were all dead. Hes having a real tough time now keeping jobs and he got a dui. Keep it safe, keep it sane and can't wait to see that weapon of a car tear it up! Deep appreciation man.

^^^^^^WE NEED MORE PEOPLE LIKE YOU IN THE UNIVERSE^^^^^

Im lucky i have a safe job. I wouldnt want to deal with all that but if duty calls then ill go.

yes it is an FWD

The shop says the next couple of weeks will go pretty fast so look foward to seeing the manifold and IC pipping along with the interior and finaly DYNO RESULTS...... i SHOULD have #'s by the beggining of Augest. Then one i get back ill start taking baby steps at the track.

My childhood buddy just got home from Iraq. Thus the cruise I just went on. Great appreciation for you guys. We were just at his base in Cherry Point, NC. He's stationed for Nagasaki in Japan the next two years. Don't worry, we're definately going to check out the local racing scene and drift spots while I'm there. I can ligitimately call them ricers. I'll bring back pics. :thumb:

No offense man, but seriously, you're going to go through atleast another one of those motors in one seson alone. Like, at LEAST.

What is the shop planning for on the drive train? Axles, flywheel, drive shaft, etc...

I have another block in works right now....but will not finish it unit we find the limits of this block, if it holds good then nothing will change with that part.

I got Drive Shaft Shop axles stage 5 pn the way.
The trannie was fully re-built with new everything.
Twin disc clutch
drilled and taped 4 more bolt holes throw the flex plate and flywheel so 8 oem bolts attach the flexplate the the flywheel now.
Quafie LSD
thats about it for the tranny i hope i hold up.....i guess will find out.... if it blows i might just order a Darrell cox racing automatic tranny

Cool. Glad to hear there's a backup. It would suck if you end a good build from something so norm in that level of racing.

Yeah man, I think I mentioned that a while back but automatic is the way to go at this point. You're shifting so fast, the fluid of motions needs to be dead on, I meen flick flick flick (of the wrist) and you're done type deal. This is minimized by utilizing an atuo tranny. Obviously.

That... and the fact that I was talking about the lower radiator hose. I don't see why the upper hose needs modification.

The upper doesn't need to be changed. I think I actually used an upper hose off a 4g63. The lower does do some twisties. I used hose and pipes that I had in my extra's boxes. It was a one off at the time time, so I figured I'd get back to welding in some bends and pipes (never did :coy: ).

Zero; looks like progress is coming quick these days. Here's hoping you can get close to 700whp. ALWAYS aim high :thumb: .

Yes I agree.

I dont plan on stopping until my goals are accomplished. and i show everyone what the 420a is capable of with a good setup.

700hp is the goal right now although the shop says we can pull more out of it with higher boost levels.

some other changes have been made also.......
No more dual inj setup. Instead were just going with a set of 1600cc inj's..reason less parts = more simple.
Also the whole ehaust will be 4'' Alum exhaust w/ a shorty style muffler

Aluminum exhaust, or aluminized steel exhaust? Most alloys of aluminum aren't all that heat resistant...

alright ive got to ask this... i know im a awd 1g now but i did have a 2g non turbo at one point i was going to turbo it. I didnt because of transmission issues. what are you going to do to beef up the trans in that thing?

the down pipe will still be Stainless. its only going to be about 15"
andthe rest will be straight Alum.
he said that it will be a thicker guage and can put up with the heat and my intended use for the car.

everything that is done to the trannie right now is how its staying.
When i run into problems ill go from there.

no one can really tell me what exactly needs to be addressed with the tranny and i talked to HAHN and they say there is nothing wrong with them they will hold up to high hp:confused:

so i guess ill find out through my own R&D

So is this car gonna be ready by next season hehe.

Looks good so far, good luck

Update

the shop just recived
Drive shaft shop axles level 5

Racepack guage cluster

DAMNIT! I got to page 7 and the last post... and I started screaming cause I want to see more! This shop is doing pretty much everything I've had idea's on or some sort of idea of... but I never had the guts to do any of it.
