See post #141, pg5. It seems people have been learning a lot from this thread :p

I was wondering what you guys think of this external oil cooler kit offered by diamondstarmotorsport?

I did some research on it, I havent found anyone using it on a 2g, only 1g's.

I like the fact that it has everything I need, I dont have to search for anything. It uses -6an lines, which from my research, most people say they are large enough. A select few say to use -8 or -10 lines.

Any suggestions?

Looks good, I'd get it. I've seen that kit a few times and I almost got it but I ended up getting a good deal on a Greddy cooler so I went with that. But like you said, it's everything you need and it works.

He has is OFH mixed up. You need a OFH off a 90 to run an external oil cooler. The foward facing OFH has no provisions for an oil cooler. I have a forward facing OFH on the car in my garage. You have only 2 taps in it. Thing looks sweet though and I got this one from FFWD which comes with the relief valve already enlarged. My personal opinion is oil coolers are not a necessity but on a heavily boosted street car they are warented.

Ok cool, I have the 90 housing.

Well I just picked my pressure plate up today, it looks good. No more pits in it. The yellowish color to it is rust preventer.

Im still waiting on my CAS studs to finish this motor!

im just wondering why you would invest so mutch money in your car and run sutch a small turbo. I mean you have the fuiel setup to run a full race setup. Is she going to be a dailey driver.

I think I answered this question before in this thread but I'll answer it again. I bought the turbo brand new, it only has like 50 miles on it, I would like to get some use out of it. I plan to upgrade the turbo and exhaust setup at some point, just not right now. For me to do it now, I would have to spend thousands more and wait even longer to get my car running.

I havent really driven this car in about 3-4 years, I plan on driving it at stock boost for awhile until it feels slow to me. Then buying injectors and DSM link and having it tuned for more power. Then once that feels slow, Ill buy a larger turbo setup and have some more fun. Im in no hurry, I just want to drive my car!

I went over to the garage tonight and did a few things. Nothing major, I put my EGR blockoff on, installed the rear main seal in the seal housing, and I got my transmission out of where it was stored.

STILL waiting on the CAS studs...

Ok Im trying to get my TB ready to be put on. I decided to go with just a FIAV block off plate and keep the ISC for a less chance of idle problems. As far as the block off plate goes, there is a metal piece held in with a screw that gets in my way of installing the plate, it is outlined in black in the photo. Im assuming you just remove it to install the plate? The vfaq doesnt work anymore on how to install the plate...

I did research on the FIAV blockoff but I cant come to a conclusion on what people are saying, is this a good mod or a bad mod to do? Am I going to get Idle surge? What do I do with the coolant lines I circled in black? Cap them, leave them open as is, or still hook coolant lines up to them? Any info on this would be helpful, thanks.

Well my basement flooded last night...:notgood:

The water got to my rims and a bunch of other car parts, Im not sure if anything is damaged, hopefully not.

Im still waiting on the CAS studs, as soon as I get those, more progress will be done.

You can just remove that small plate and screw. It's for the FIAV anyways. All it is is a wax pellet that the coolant heats up and closes an air bypass. It just allows more air to bypass when the car is cold. You won't need the coolant lines hooked up to it anymore.

Thanks for the info, so what do I do with the coolant lines on the TB? Cap them off? Or leave them open?
