It bolts behind the bracket, flush with the block. Although if its a hassle, you could just shove it in there and bend the dipstick tube bracket to make it fit in front of the PS bracket.
Then while the pan was off I noticed that one of the pan bolt holes is helicoiled.
Sorry you are having so many problems, but the helicoil should be fine. I understand what you are saying though.

off topic: where did you order your dipstick from, it looks new?
Well as far as the helicoil goes. It's not a big deal. You are not taking new blocks to sell. They are using old motors and machining them. So the helicoil is a good thing. At least they did that. I am shocked about the dipstick. I mean how can you do all the machine work and assembly and not realize this tube protruding.
The missing studs is ridiculous.
Looks good manwhy such a small turbo? btw, when you're done, you should submit a tech article for this work!
When do you think you'll be ready to drop it in?
I don't remember posting this already but it might help. My install:

Yeah, mine had similar surface rust and it's fine. I really wouldn't worry about it too much.
Are you saying I should just install it as is and let the clutch remove the rust?
Also, how was your clutch, was it rusty like mine in the spring area?
Well wipe it off real good, I don't know about taking steel wool to it or anything but wipe it off and let it do the rest. And yes my clutch got a little rusty in the spring area too.
Looks good man!I'm actually in the middle on my own 6-bolt swap right now. But, I'm waiting for the machine work on the block and for my pistons to come in.
