Are you using the 1g timing belt cover? If you are, you're going to need to take the studs off your motor mount unless you cut the cover all up.

As for the hole in the main seal i didn't see one in any of mine taking out the old one and putting in the new one. no holes here..

Ya thats it but you might have to trim the top justtt a little bit though.
And the side around the mount, I'll take a picture tonight. It was a bit of a pain to fit right. Maybe I'm the only one, but I took very tiny bits out piece by piece so it's really snug.
I'll also get a pic of mine up, I basically cut a rectangle out to the left of the mount and it fit fine. I used a jigsaw, I tried it with a boxcutter but underestimated the strength of a brand new timing cover.
Also, I put my coolant temp sensor in the lower spot and it worked fine...just make sure to use some plumbers tape, as mine leaked like a bi*** when I first started it up... heres a pic for the hell of it...
Oh, and we have the same spark plug cover plate, I havent seen many other people with it.

Thanks for the info, I did use plumbers tape when I installed it.
Your spark plug cover says injen in red, mine doesnt?
When I tried to install this behind the coolant pipe it wouldn't fit right, it was pushing on the timing tin. It was bending it forward towards the cam gear. Did this happen to you guys?
I just started to take a cutting wheel to the metal mount and started cutting metal off of it to make it fit without touching the tin.
Yeah, I had that same problem, if you look, it doesn't exactly line up right because it's being pushed on. But works fine anyway.
I just realized something while looking at my talon. I ordered the wrong lower thermostat housing. I didn't order the 90 style, I have two coolant ports coming out the front and I only need the one for the turbo. I'm hoping that I can find a way to plug it. I think a large rubber nipple cover with a clamp should seal it up. Any other ideas?
This is the one I don't need.
What oil cooler are you running? If its water cooled, you need to use the second one for it, if not, just goto auto zone and get a big vacuum cap and then put a hose clamp around it.
I have the 90 style oil housing, with an external oil cooler, not water cooled. Thats why I don't need the second one. The vacuum clamp is what I was talking about, thats the only think I can think of using. Unless I JB weld it close?
Thanks
I wouldn't do anything permanent, just in case you ever might need it.
I actually had a questions that arose from this thermo. housing stuff... what the hell is this connector for? I just left it unplugged on mine, I'm assuming its for 1gs only.

I'm pretty sure I used that black one, but switched it out with the 2g one... I also have the other style t-stat housing.
Mike.
I've used rubber vac caps in the past and had them fail horrifically on a long drive. Rubber can not stand up to the torture petroleum products put them through. Either get a Vitron cap if you can find it or better yet. Don't JB weld it. Just have it removed and drill and tap it for 1/8" npt and put a plug in it. That way if in the future you did need to use you can get just get a NPT fitting and you have your water outlet again. Say like if you went with a BB turbo you would be wanting that again. And then you would also want you inlet nipple on your water pipe as well for said turbo for the cleanest install.
And yes that black sensor is for ECU coolant temp. It's very much needed. You have to replace it with the 2G one if you are putting it in a 2G. I don't know if the 1G and 2G sensors are the same sensor as far as out put goes but the connectors are different.
. All this looks familiar, yours is just a little cleaner. I used some used parts. You can see ^^^ where I cut on the t-belt cover for the mount in that pic. Here's mine: vvvv
