I have a msd-dis2 box wired into my 2g turbo, Its mounted underneath the passenger seat and has the wiring leading into the engine bay where it connects to the coil pack and engine harness with stock male and female coil pack connectors i soldiered on the harness from another vehicle. All wires are soldiered, tach adapter 8912 is soldiered in place. It breaks up in high rpms and the LED flashes 3 times which means intermittent input signal. Ive gone through 2 msd boxs and 2 tach adapters and the problem persists. It goes to redline with the ignition wired in stock, either with the bypass plug put into the msd harness and tach adapter removed or just unplugging the msd harness and connecting the engine harness straight to the coils. It also runs fine with the msd box installed without the tach adapter, ofcoarse then the tach wount work. The last tach adapter i have tried is brand new i dont think the tach adapters are bad, and they are the ones the manual recommends using. The grounds are solid and straight to the battery. MSD tech keeps leading me in circles. If anyone has had this much trouble with the DIS2 please fill me in on something else to try.

I havent worked with those boxes, however could it be that the wires are now too long and the signals are becomming malformed at high rpm? Shielded wire may be of some help too. Just some ideas

im not sure what version msd box it is. But i dont think its interfierence in the wires, the msd techs told me not to worry about that with the dis 2 box because its capacitive discharge and they dont really have a problem with that. Also the box runs great at high rpms without the tach adapter. The problem is pretty much narrowed down to the fact that im using tach adapter 8912 and it wount operate with it, ive tried 2 of these adapters now with same results despite the fact that msd dis user manual recommends that tach adapter for our cars.
