I'm starting to build up my eclipse... gonna stay on stock motor, ultimately going for 450whp on race gas, and 350 or so on pump... I traded an old cell phone for an msd dis2 ignition... do i need it? or should i sell it... I know that the stock ignition is good for what i want... but would this help me or just make it more complication.... THanks in advance...

Also its a 6bolt in a 2g running dsmlink

Well If I where you I would keep it and install it . Just read up before you do the install . You are going to need a msd tach adapter. Oh , many people will say that the stock ignition is fine but if you go to www.Taboospeedshop.com They will tell you it is good to around 300hp . Msd :thumb:

I dont believe a tach adapter is needed for the second gereation cars, and there is a member on this forum that has run 10s on a stock ignition.

i have the tach adapter.... i'll probably hold on to it for a while and if i have no problems then get rid of it...

thanks for the help though

You don't need it but is a good ignition upgrade. You should be able to run a higher plug gap without blowing it out. I think most people use it mostly for the 2-step for launching and no lift to shift.

I never was able to run the big plug gap that people kept talking about. The car did run cleaner low end with the MSD box and the 2 step was very nice. I have had my MSD off for a year and I havent had any ignition issues.
