MPH Gauge? Bounce

hello i have a question i have a 94 talon and when iam driving around town 0-20mph the mph gauge bounces a little after that like at 30 or so its seady and fine
why is that?

Something is more than likely wrong with the speedo cable or the speedo gear internal to the transmission.

If the teeth are worn out or shredded, the speed sensor will probably have issues. If the teeth are actually shredded, there is a reason....you likely have some debris or gear parts bouncing around inside your transmission that took out the sensor. Normally, it is front differential damage, or a chunk of a gear tooth or center diff gut.

It's easy to replace, just one bolt the last time I checked.

I have the same issue. The speedo gear in the trans is fine, and the cable is new. The gauge cluster is showing 230,000+ miles though. Does anyone know if the actual vss, and speedo gear in the cluster is replaceable, without swapping clusters?
