I would just like to know if anyone has any suggestions for me reguarding my broken motor mount. I have cracked the bracket right off of the engine block toward the rear : by the intake mani and starter and now have some tow strappings on the front mount by the exhaust mani to keep the engine from torqueing too much. I was wondering if there is any alternative i can come up with to reenforce that front mount to support more of the engine torque. I doubt anyone has come across this before i need some help thanks!!!! :dsm:

I feel ya bro. I too have a broken motor mount stituation. Mine is the front mount though. Both of the stud bosses (block casting) broke on mine. For me the only fix is to completely replace the block. But you can, if you dont want to replace the block, have those broken pieces re-welded back on. Provided that you still have the broken pieces. Unfortunately these are your only two options. JB weld is strong but not that strong. These are major stress points (the motor mounts) I feel that Im too hard on my motor to trust a weld job so Ive found a replacement block from Pina Motorsports for 50 bucks. Until then it sounds like you got a good idea for keeping it tied in till you can give it proper attention. Sometimes Mc Gyvering works for the poor.

Have you attempted the weld job? Might be beneficail to give it a try before swapping out a motor, dont ya think? Worst case its breaks off again and your back where you are now.

yes actually i have had it welded before actually twice i had the bracked welded driectly to the block (along with two oversize bolts that were helacoiled and threadlocked) but it still snapped off. so right now there is seriously no more hole for a bolt to go in thats how big of a chunk came off. im goin to do everything i can to keep the block i got since i just got it rebuit and have forged pistons and rods in it. is there any way to weld the front mount to handle the torque i got. keep in mind im running almost 20psi. as for mc gyvering it i am the king of doing that ha ha lots of shit on my car is like that not to mention a third bolt and a piece of steel from a horse trailer welded to my tranny mount to bolt hole in my tranny that wasnt used.
i have no idea what that hole was for but it was already threaded and a stock bolt size fit in it. so what can i do with that front mount the next thing i was thinking of was to use a U bolt Man what can i say :dsm:'s have some major HP man!!

I used to work in an engine re-man shop and saw shit like this all day everyday. I dont trust the weld, cause you got the guy who just zaps it together then cleans up his ugly weld job and ends up weakening it again for the sake of a "pretty" job. No thanks, I want a block that has never been broken before so that I can be the one to hurt it. That I and I wanted to re-build anywho. I like the idea of 200+ hp out of a quazi stock motor. And hell ya these :dsm: 's do have tons of torque. I love that!
