Dropped a fresh engine to a 1G AWD shell with an A/T transmission. Everything lines up except the front motor mount (the one closest to the radiator). The bracket that is attached to the block itself is about a couple inches short for the mount to bolt up. Now my question: Is there any differences between 5-speed AWD/FWD and A/T AWD/FWD? Any clues/suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Apologies to the mods if this already came up but I did a search already and nothing seemed to answer my predicament.

There are so many differences in mounts for the various 1G cars it is hard to keep track. I've tried going through CAPS and sorting through the various part numbers for all the 1G cars, but it becomes a real big mess real fast.

Suffice it to say that between FWD and AWD, the mount is different. The FWD mount is smaller than the AWD mount. Further, between manual and auto transmission, both AWD, they are also different. What exactly these differences are, I am unsure, but here are part numbers for the AWD.

With Automatic Transmission:
MD152506 - Cylinder Block Stopper Bracket for 1991-94
With Manual Transmission:
MD133347 - Cylinder Block Stopper Bracket for 1990-94

Thanks for chiming in and even coming up with the parts number. I've read a bunch of threads and also from other forums and unfortunately, there's a lot of mixed responses so there was no way to really confirm. While some did not have any problems at all, others were not so lucky and even to a point that they don't really know if it's either the rear bracket or the front bracket or even both that are wrong parts. I just basically came up with a hypothesis that it's only the front bracket that's messed up. One guy even commented that I might have a GVR4 engine, I already ruled that out just by looking at the injectors, :D

Your response is GREATLY appreciated.

I know the mounts vary between the autos and sticks. Its as subtle of a difference with some of them. They may look like they should fit, but the bushing is inverted. I got in an arguement with AZ because their catalog is wrong. The mount I needed had the bushing upside down (manual tranny) and I had an auto. I had to go across the street to Advance to get the right part.

AZ sucks anyway, but maybe only here in California. :hmm:
