Motor I need Help

I have a 91 Eclipse GSX and the motor has 189xxx and I was wondering were and what motor I should get I need help because I wont be able to do to much to it with aftermarket parts because I dont want it to blow up someone please help me.

a replacement would be a dohc 2.0 4g63 turbo motor 6 bolt

What is wrong with your current engine again?

90-91 6-bolt should drop right in.

just because it has 189k does not mean that u have to replace the engine. If that is the reason you are trying to replace it

Ok your engine has 189k miles on it. What is it doing or not doing?

Have you done the basic tests on it? Compression and leak down?

Is the manitance been kept up?

Do not let the milage scare you.

Ok thanks, no im not having any problems with the actual motor, im not completely sure on the maitnence part i just got it like a month ago and im planning on putting aftermarket parts on it and people i talk to say i wouldnt be able to do too much to it because of the mileage. But im not even worried about that right now because my clutch is acting weird, I just replaced the slave cylinder and now my clutch doesnt have any resistance and pretty much everytime i put it in 1st it grinds. Im pretty sure its the actual clutch and I just want to make sure.

No sounds more like you did not bleed the slave cylinder properly.

I would just say, throw the parts on if you want, and have a second motor ready. Its pretty hard to kill these 4g63s, unless you're trying or you're just plain dumb.

As said above, do a compression and leakdown on your engine. I've thrown 30psi at a few engines over 150-160k miles. As long as it's done right, and not already hurt, it should be fine.

I know of a 95 tsi that has 235K miles on its original 2g 7bolt engine. Damn near a quarter million miles and still runnin strong son! The key to these cars is regular maintence. Plain and simple.

I didnt replace the slave cylinder someone else did because I dont know a whole lot about cars yet im hoping to go to a automotive tech school after high school and learn everything.

Sounds like it has no problems besides whoever you had do the slave didn't bleed ot all the way
And you don't even know how to unbolt a few bolts
If your gonna keep it time to do some reading

I knew about cars, but just enough to get by. My DSM taught me A LOT more. Prepare to learn, its part of the lifestyle. Not having too much knowledge and owning a DSM can result in another warrior down (speaking of the DSM ofcourse)

Well, you can start off by ignoring this guy.

Make sure your slave is bled correctly, like Bogus said. And also just check out the compression and do your general maintenance. There is no reason to build a new engine if yours is completely fine. Plus, that may already be a rebuilt engine that a previous owner had put in there.

so.... because it has some age and wear and tear your going to skip right to a motor transplant?
