modifying head 1g need tips

hey guys i blew a head gasket and i have pulled the head off. i have bought stainless steel valves. im wonderin if i should go the extra miles and put cams and springs? should i change the sotck seals? how good are the stock lifters? and rollers. im planing to go 450 or 500 horsepower. are these modifications able to be done by myself without taken it to the shop if i use the right tools. im tryin to save labor costs. i took the head off here are some pics of my block are? do things look ok.

also i did not line up the cams gears. since i thought im goin to change the valves anyway. is that cool. or am i goin to have problems

If you have bought new valves, you will need to have a valve grind done to seat them properly.

Also if you have blown a head gasket you most likely will need to have the deck surface cut to ensure the new head gasket seals.

Replace the stock valve seals with new ones, they will come with the head gasket set.

You could put in cams, but you don't need to. to reach 400 WHP, depending on what turbo you use. If you do install new cams then you should also replace the valve springs.

thanks im goin to go wit the comp cams 272s across wit crower springs and retainers and new seals. im porting the head too. all this is for 1284.00 is this a good deal

You might want to consider 3G lifters, or solid lifters while the head's apart. Toplines (revised) run about $120 for a set, and you can find a set of solid (will not collapse at high RPM) for about $400.
