1G Need help with head build please.

Hello everyone… so after 15 years I have a project again. I have loads of parts from past projects. Picking up where I left off I’m gonna have the head rebuilt but i can’t remember what exact springs and retainers I have and why i went with 2g lifters.

What I still have is 2g lifters and Brian crowder springs and retainers. But again no clue which ones.

What I ran was hks 272, I believe 1mm oversized ferrea valves.

My question is utilizing said Brian Crower hardware and 2g lifters and todays tech… what’s there for comparable to the hks 272 and do I really need 1mm oversized or just go with regular. Will be stock block

Future plans will use a 16g to get it running and when the kinks are all worked out I will be switching out in the next winter for a hk35-40i have both just need rebuilt. Other things incase they matter is I will be awd and auto and supporting mods(fmic, afpr, exhaust, ext)

Well I’m not 100% sure what is comparable. But you’ll want a new set if 3rd gen revised lifters to eliminate any tick and future problems. As for valves, stock is fine, I’ve ran north of 600+ on 40 lbs and had no issue. But I’m sure others will chime in too, just my 2 cents

I build my head and using stock sized valves. You really dont need to go oversized wnd my end plans are for about 750hp. It flows enough as it is so a mild port and clean will do a good job for you.

As for the parts im not upto date on crower or BC stuff. A good set of kiggly beehives normally do the trick well for most applications.

Just remember spec everything and set spring pressures evenly across all the valves to make sure the match perfectly
