I have a 99 Eclipse GSX and i have ordered most of my parts already for it. I order and have a....

- 190 Fuel pump

- 720cc Fuel Injectors,

- HKS BOV,

- Greddy FMIC, -

- B16g Evo 3 Turbo kit

- HKS Cams

- Tien Super Street Coilovers

- (about to buy a new ECU from apex)

- Boost Controller

- Turbo Timer

- Magnaflow 3inch catback Exhaust

- Apexi N1 Downpipe

MY friend said i have no support mods and my shit is gonna blow if i dont have any support mods......im like wtf.....how are you gonna tell me about my DSM:dsm: and you have a Vtec.....I know my car and my car limits. My friends think i dont know but i do know and its ignorant when they talk like they know my car better than me. What yall think?

Well, first of all, you're going to need something to control those 720cc injectors (unless that's what the new ECU is for).
If you haven't already bought the Greddy FMIC, I'd suggest looking into the SSAC one as it's a lot cheaper and has short route piping (vs. the long route that the Greddy has).
I would also get a rewire kit for the fuel pump.
I hope you know that the Apexi downpipe is a cat-eliminator (since you live in Cali and from what I understand, emissions is pretty strict)
I would also suggest getting a real boost gauge (as the stock one is pretty pointless).
A logger is also another essential thing everyone should have.

And I hope you got the recirculation kit for that HKS BOV. Venting to atmosphere with out a MAF and MAFT causes your car to run poorly.

And as stated above you will need a way to tune the larger injectors. I am unfamilier with the apex ECU and this may do it, do you have more information on it?

It seems that you are doind most of the supporting mods and you shouldn't blow your engine if you get a logger and keep an eye on it and don't push more boost than your fuel system can handle.

I got a boost gauge also, sorry i just forgot to list that. i already bought the FMIC. LOL yeah i just found out the apex is a Cat Elimnator. But so? Imma get my old cat and snap it over my downpipe to play off i look like a cat and when i get go get it smogged then ill just pop out the downpipe and buy and pop in another cat. IF not a ECU for the Fuel Injectors ### should i get to controll it? Ill get a logger sometime soon. The setup up so far what yall think? Is my Vtec RSX friend right thinking all my stuff will blow?

The setup sounds pretty good, but listen to the advice listed above. There are cheaper alternatives to buying HKS cams too, unless you're dead set on having HKS brand. Which cams did you get - 264, 272, 280? Which boost controller did you buy?

The best bang for the buck in tuning is to get a EPROM ECU from a 95 Eclipse or Talon and get DSM Link.

The bare minumum you will need is an Apexi SAFC 1,2, or Neo. But even with these 720 injectors are a little large and tuning will be tricky.

If you go with DSM Link you can run almost any size injector and it will function as a logger and keep track of all the important warning signs of blowing your car up.

Your friend is mostly wrong but you can jprove him right by installing those injectors without a way to control them and by running more than 14psi without a logger to monitor the engine condition.

I bought a Greddy spec boost controller. What other Cams is there that wi ll really help my dsm ?

I don't have any experience personally with aftermarket cams, but BC (Brian Crower) cams are affordable and people seem to like them a lot.

The Brian Crower cams are essentially the same thing as the HKS at a much lower price. Plus, on the subject of cams. if you run a 264/272 combo or straight 272's your stock valve train should handle it but if you go to 280's or larger you should upgrade your springs and retainers.

I could order smaller injectors cause i havent put them in yet LOL.

Decide what you want to use to tune with (DSMlink, safc, etc.), then buy the biggest injectors that the system can handle. The price difference between different sized injectors is relatively small and there is no sense in buying injectors twice because you outgrew the smaller ones.

If you still have the stock ones just use them untill you get something to tune the larger ones with. And use your boost controller and gauge to make sure the boost stays below 14psi.

Lol your talkin about the Vtec that thinks his semi stock RSX with a cold air can take on a 5.0 Mustang.

So far it sounds like he knows what hes talking about more than you do.

It probably can if the mustang is stock.

I agree both times. And coming from a background owning several mustangs, hondas, and dsm's, I know that an rsx with i/e is faster than a stock mustang gt.

Before purchasing any kind of piggy back fuel controller, I would just go ahead and invest in dsmlink and eprom ecu, and dont look back.

And with a stock MAS and stock type ecu, you need to get the recirculation kit for the bov. I really dont feel like typing out why so just search threads about venting the bov and you will quickly understand why.

Damn... I wish I had the money to just go buy all those parts he just bought. How much is the Greddy FMIC? Isn't it like $800? That is like $600 more than what I would spend... That's enough for a socketed service DSM Link and some pizza! Oh well... I guess that has something to do w/ me being a broke college kid...

I agree, too. Hell, a stock RSX could probably take on a supercharged mustang 5.0. It's not about what mods there are, it's about what they do. Stick AWD on an RSX, and it could probably beat an F40 off the line.

And if you really wanna put a lot of power through your engine, start with a tranny. If you're running 550 hp through a tranny that was designed for 200 hp, that layshaft will pop up and slap you in the face. Things like that is what your buddy meant when he said supporting mods. Make sure your car can handle everything you want to do to it, before you actually do it.

Anyways, good luck, leave your buddy in the dust, and rock out.:rocks:

Having just gone down this road over the past year, I would say get very familiar with the Stage 0/Stage 1 upgrade path and take your time: do things right the first time. I started with the intake and the exhaust and went from there. Do your mods a little bit at a time in a logical sequence, so that if you do have an issue it is easier to trouble-shoot.

They all got it correct above me ^^^^ basically add an Safc, a data logger (or dsm link if your gonna use larger then 650 injectors) and you could maybe use a short ram intake for a lil extra goodness :p otherwise just research a lil more and just make sure you got everything to make it run smooth

I agree 100%.

You are jumping into to it way to fast. If you never modded a car before, don't get fuel injectors on the first order. I would agree as well that the VTEC (pompuos as he is) knows more then you.

Follow my guide I posted few months ago. Not only does it tell you what you need, but links to parts catalog of the corresponding part. It shows a number of different parts, the price as well as which of our vendor sells it. From that list you can pic and choose your parts as you need them. Once you've completed that guide you will be ready for fuel injectors and a fuel management system.
