MY friend said i have no support mods and my shit is gonna blow if i dont have any support mods......im like wtf.....how are you gonna tell me about my DSM:dsm: and you have a Vtec.....I know my car and my car limits. My friends think i dont know but i do know and its ignorant when they talk like they know my car better than me. What yall think?

Just to specify, I'm sure we are all talking about the RSX-S right? I know the regular ones are kinda meh, but the type-S is definetly no slouch!
Not to make this into a race thread, but just giving an example.
My brother-in-law and I have an annual race around christmas every year. Now I was still fairly stock, and he has very smart mods done, but he has beat me the last 2 years!

(I've got something special for him this year though!)

so yeah those things CAN move quick.

get dsmlink and a '95 eprom ecu. be done. why waste time/money with the SAFC?

also, BEFORE you start modding, how many miles do you have since you changed your timing belt/waterpump/etc.? DO all your maintence first, otherwise, you will enjoy 1 nice pull...then BOOM...bye bye engine.

yeah definatley do the timingbelt/waterpump bit. + you can do your bs removal while your down there to scratch that power itch.
O i think you would be safe putting your exhaust and downpipe on too. Actually all your parts except for the injectors could be put on- since you already have them and it shouldnt cost you much if anything at all to put em on. your gonna need to open up you intake tho. you can buy a injen style off ebay for like -$60. or you can run to autozone and buy the MAF adapter and a filter to go on it, i think that cost me like $40 total. find a fuel pump rewire kit and throw in that pump too.

Water pump, timing belt, intake, spark plugs, wires, I can't beleive beleive no one mentioned afpr on all those posts, you are going to overrun the stock one. Just keep in mind that maintenance is going to be a huge factor on blowing your car up. Everytime you fill up the gas check your oil, check your coolant. Things like that are going to be very important after the upgrades, your tanny and clutch ARE going to go as well so be prepared to dish out 1000$ for an act 2600 w/ lightweight fly wheel, and just know that your tranny rebuilt isn't going to be worth nothing if it's not a TRE, SHEP, Jacks and it has to be one of their more premium builds or it ain't worth ####. Especially with the hp you are going to get out of these mods.

Is this for track use or are you a speed-hungry teenager that wants a fast car now? I'm the second one, personally.... :p

But seriously, the clutch and tranny rebuild are the first things you'll want to do if you have any racing aspirations for this car. But if 300hp is enough to make you happy, and all you want is to beat that punk next to you at the light, just a few simple upgrades should be plenty; like the usual stage 1 upgrades and maybe even a few stage 2.

(P.S., ask your buddy if you don't know what the stages are(useless titles, really....):p, and try not to :beatentodeath: him, too.)

One thing to keep in mind is that although the evo 3 16g is a direct bolt on, more air is going to require less resistance. Do you plan on using the stock Exh manifold? If so, I would be taking it to a machine shop for some porting. Same goes for your o2 sensor housing. Otherwise you will most likely have some creep. And with more boost, more pressure will be put on the stock head gasket. While doing the 60k maintenance already suggested, you better go with some head studs. Now that your intake mani is off, you could send it to the machine shop for a little massaging as well!! Hopefully money is not an option, it seems like it's not, because sure as the sun rises in the east, with all those mods and not the right knowledge, it could just be a ticking time bomb.

Thank you for all the information. I just went out and bought a Evo 3 Exhaust MAnafold 255 Fuel pump i still dont know ### to use.. I was looking at a Apexi Neo SAFC. DO you think it will work and also ### do you think is the best injectors it can handle. This forum is a really big help for me. Thanks again.

Make sure to get an afpr for the 255 because the pump will overrun the stock fpr. Aeromotive is a popular brand.

I have never tried to use and SAFC Neo so I don't know exactly how big of an injector can be used with it but the common thought on the topic is that 660's are really pushing the limits and can become difficult to tune.

It seems like you have money to spend with all the parts you are buying and if that is the case I strongly recommend getting DSMlink instead of an SAFC. It is by far the superior product with the ability to support larger injectors and all the little bells and whistles.

660s are the generally-accepted limit that MAS-adjustment piggybacks can handle, due to their inability to compensate for injector deadtimes... which increase as the size of the injector increases. Larger things tend to move slower.
DSMLink can use any size injector because it CAN adjust for global deadtime.

I'd highly suggest going the DSMLink route. It has more potential for growth and power than any other mod out there, and VERY few will ever reach the point where DSMLink cannot provide for their tuning needs. And for those, the two to three grand for an AEM EMS will be a drop in the ocean given the cost of all the other parts they've bought and installed, and are very likely shooting for the four-digit club.

I can do that is it easy to put in or should i have a shop do it so i dont mess it up? Also know anyone thats selling one? I looked in the classifieds and none out for grabs atm.

The main thing you need to find for DSM link is a EPROM ECU form a 1995 car. These pop up alot in the classified sections and stuff you just have to keep looking. Here is a link to a page about exactly what you will need DSMLink - FAQ - EPROM

As for DSM link itself just buy it from them DSMLink Homepage and you will be guaranteed to get an official product as bootleg ones do exist. And you will get access to the DSM link forums which can be a big help to you in sorting out tuning issues.

Once you have an ECU you can send it to ECM Tuning and have them socket it and install the chip or have it socketed locally.

That one would work. Personally I would try to talk him down on price although his asking price isn't ridiculous. I got lucky and found one for $150.

You don't need to do anything with it. You should plug it into your car, switch your plug wires around as shown on the dsm link site and make sure it is a functioning ecu. After that you would purchase DSM link with socket service option and send it in to that address they give you. Pack it up well to prevent shipping damage and insure it.

should i find one that has all that done already to it or does it gotta be a certain one that goes with my car?

Any 95 EPROM ECU from a turbo car will work. The 420As use a different computer and that one won't work. If you can find one that is already socketed that's cool but it doesn't cost that much to get it done.

Comparing the apexi neo to DSMLINK is like comparing a 8" chrome ricer exhaust tip to a 3" full turboback exhaust. Sure to the joe blow off the street the tip looks good, but we all know chrome won't get you home. Other than slight fuel changes and very little engine monitoring, it's a waste of money. In your case time. Like stated earlier, even though you got the parts, with no more than you know about the mechanical make up of you car, do it one stage at a time. This way you can learn as you go. I would start by actually installing the dsmlink and learning how to log and tune. If I had the money to do it all over again that is what I would do. :dsm:

FFWD Connection - Race Injuns That Will Freeze Your Brain

As many have stated, you seemling have a bit of cash to burn. The above link is a great vendor that can sell you the ecu socketed (with a fresh rebuild) with the dsmlink installed, all you would have to do is install the ecu...no shipping anything anywhere, or worrying if the ECU works. I'd honestly pay a bit extra for the peace of mind. And they can also get you into the dsmlink forums...and if you think these forums are helpful, those guys make this site look a bit nubish. (no offense anyone!!)

If I could do it all over again, I'd of bought the link first, even before my intake. This way you can gradually learn to make the changes with the software, and make sure everything is properly tuned for whatever mods you throw at it. Also, going this route, you can maximize hps gains from every mod.

Has anyone mentioned a wideband o2? Wideband+DSMlink ftw!

No offense, man, but it sounds like you purchased some serious parts for not knowing too much about vehicles. You better prepare to either spend a LOT of money or learn how to be a mechanic...fast.
