Mod list almost done... turbo/manifold/O2 housing

Alright i'm down to my turbo/manifold/O2 housing... i know that i am going to get an evoIII from slow boy racing but i don't know if i should get the 34mm flapper/ported or clipped. Is the evoIII internally gated???... i'm looking for low 11 sec passes... and for the manifold should i get the dnp manifold or the evoIII manifold ported and everything or is there another one out there that is better than all of these... ok now for the O2 housing which one is the best... i'm guessing maybe the evoIII? ported and everything... also is the buschur dp any good cuz i want to run a thermal cat-back and i need a dp and test pipe also... I know that this is a ton of stuff but i just need to finish my mod list... thank you guys so much.
 
A. It's nearly impossible

B. There is a HUGE difference between barely eking out a 11.9 or 11.8 with AMAZING driving and a low MPH and running a low 11.

C. a 16g is a tiny turbo.

D. Do some fuggin research
 
You gonna need something alot bigger than a 16g unless you plan on insanely gutting your car. Like he said ^^^ do some research. Low 11s is moving, your gonna need ALOT of play no games mods, weight reduction, and some GOOD tuning. Be prepared to get a big 3500+ spooling turbo, light wheels/sticky rubber, cams, then you need a built drivetrain to hold it all together ect. One of my pet peeves is when some guy sites "so and so's setup ran "insert mutant time here" so that means thats all I need and Ill do the same thing". Its simply not that easy. If you know what your doing and wanna try to hit low 11s on something that small go right ahead. But if you could do that you prolly wouldnt be on this board asking what type of setup you need. :thumb:
 
Whatever you do, don't get the DNP manifold. IMHO it's just not worth it when you look at the price difference compared to the EVO 3 manifold. You can get a ported Evo manifold with both gaskets from Slowboy for $240 shipped right now. The cheapest I've seen the DNP for is $475 at Slowboy as well, without shipping. Can it improve performance, yeah I'm sure but is it worth the extra $240? I could find a few ways to spend that money that will give you much better gains. Plus I have personal experience dealing with DNP and their customer service sucks. To make a long story short, they've been giving people the run around on their VW manifolds for weeks now. Go to the VWvortex forums and search about them- you'll read some BAD stuff. They're not reliable at all, and have given three different stories to three different customers that I know of as to when the VW manis will be in stock and why they're still not in-stock yet. My best friend just had to cancel an appointment with the shop he goes to for the 3rd time in a row because they keep screwing him around. Finally he cancelled his order with them and decided it just wasn't worth the hassle. Just my 2 pennies...
 
alright guys i've always loved the fp 3052 that jdmawd posted a long time ago and that is the turbo that i've always wanted but i was just looking at the evoIII because it is like 600-700 dollars cheaper. So now that you guys say that the evoIII won't get me into 11's i guess that i'll just buy the fp3052. Now my question is i know that i need a new manifold and 02 housing. What are the best for this too :thumb:

Oh yea and itsstockofficer i've done tons of research :thumb: just trying to see what i get into the 11's with the cheapest so thank you ;)

You're eithier lying about having done research or a complete idiot for having done research and having reached such inane conclusions.

You're trying to save money on your turbo and think you will run low 11's? This is a money game, and the turbo is the cheapest part of a low 11 second car.

11's and cheap don't go togther...

The cheapest route would be to Port your stock exhaust Manilfold and o2 housing... or you could buy the DNP and a 3" o2 housing....depends on what you want to spend.
 
If you're just aiming for 11s, why not get one of these PTE turbos? http://www.extremepsi.com/store/customer/product.php?productid=16707&cat=506&page=1
It's going to be way easier to chase numbers with this set up and not very much more than that evo. SBR E3 16G is 610 ported. Install kit on a 2G is 175 and up. PTE 50 trim is only 850 and the install kit is 150. If you're gonna spend the money, might as well spend 240 more and make it easier on yourself.

Hmmm, You think I don't know who ShapeGSX is? How are you going to compare your low 11 sec goal to his 11.98 after a year of tuning far beyond your capabilities? I am quite aware of what 16g's can and cannot do.

Think you gotta do some research at the track, not looking at what other people ran. You know how much tuning time and effort goes into a 11 sec run with a 50trim? A lot. Each setup is gonna be different. You can have 2 cars with the same mods, and one could run 12.3 and the other 13.6 on a EvoIII 16g. Its all about tuning, and if you plan on trying to run low 11s with a EvoIII 16g, good luck is all i have to say.
 
man dood, i hab the dnp mani w/ tial 40wg, 20g, 3" 02 eiliminator, and im not even thinking of touching 11's. BTW i have an axtra 2nd gen ported mani w/ flange for hks wg if ya want, and i have a ported 2g 02 housing too. LOL
 
you guys are crazy, all you need is a 16g and nawwsss..the big ones... make it two. :)

why dont you get the fp sleeper 16g. lie to people and tell them its a 14b or something. if im not mistaken that turbo put down like 400 to the wheels and an 11.5 pass in a galant vr4.

Agreed .. who asks if a 16g is internally gated or not and about the flapper mod as well!?!?!!??

Or just get a decent sized turbo and be happy and not blowing turbos all the time because you'd have to run 25+ psi to run 11s and I still don't see low 11s happening even with a built motor, cams, and a 50 shot with any type of 16g. 16g is a beginner turbo.
