Can someone tell me if an mhi 16g rebuild kit will work on a knockoff B16g turbo? There's nothing wrong with it yet, but i figured i could rebuild it with genuine parts and make it stronger.. will it work?

Thx man. That's the exact kit I was looking at. Also wanting to put a 20g wheel on it, but I seen how to do that in the forums. Will this strengthen it like an MHI or is there other week points? thx for any help.

No it will not.

The MHI thrust plate, thrust collar, compressor seal, and compressor collar will work, but you'll need T3 journal bearings and a T3 turbine seal.

The parts you'll need will cost more than a new eBay 20G.

O. I'm building the engine and I'd hate for it to come apart and end up in my motor. I got it at the time because it was a package deal. Thx for the quick responses I'll look for an MHI.

You can always search the classifieds for a MHI turbo, theres always a couple for sale.

Not to thread jack but what about the turbochargers.com evoIII gt can i use mhi parts to rebuild that if i have too.

The GT Concepts Evo III 16G's use MHI parts. They are Taiwan-built turbos, and are identical copies of the MHI Evo III.

The older GT Concepts Evo III 16G's had trouble with breaking turbine wheels....I've seen at least three at my shop that failed from a broken turbine. When this happens the only salvageable parts are the exhaust housing and the wastegate actuator....everything else is destroyed.

I'd advise you to contact Turbochargers.com and give them the Serial number from your turbo, and ask them if they can provide you with a build date. If it's older, I wouldn't waste time rebuilding it as the turbine wheel will probably snap in the near future and you'll have wasted $75-$100 on a rebuild kit.
