Just found some damage on the exhaust wheel of my 14b turbo. It looks like the tips of the blades have melted and bent back a little bit. I am going to be replacing in with a 16g in the next few weeks and dont want this to happen to my new one. What does it take for this kind of damage to occur? This past weekend after doing a hard pull to about 6k a flame would come out the exhaust. I just figured it was fuel building up when letting off and didn't worry about it but could that have cause the turbo to melt some? It has only shot the flame maybe 10 times total.
I did have the exhaust manifold welded a few weeks ago where it cracked. Maybe a piece of wire got stuck on the inside and went through the turbo when it broke lose?
