ok to introduce myself i just got a 90 gsx stock except for dejon intake and apexi exhaust. car ran good just wanted a little more out of it and got a great deal on a 50 trim so i figured what the heck ill throw that on there along with the supporting mods. well i took the old turbo off and the housing looks like it has melted metal all through it like lava or welding slag, now i might be new to this forum and dsms but i am not new to turbos and i have never seen this before. anyone else have this? should i be concerned? (probably)

The pictures suck, so it's hard to tell. It does however look as though your referring to the wastegate ports. I wouldn't be too concerned, especially since you've got a new turbo, and plan on buying the supporting mods to install which will also include some sort of exhaust manifold and o2 housing. I would recommend getting an EGT gauge, so that if your exhaust gas temp get too hot, you'll know before it starts to melt stuff. I doubt that the exhaust melted the metal, as it would have needed to be 3000*+, the typical range for egt's on a 4g63 are ususally between 600*-800*

well took the manifold off too and it looks good, so #### it. plus the turbo is a td04h and my car is a five speed so maybe the motor that turbo was on previously had problems ? .
