I want a Megan Racing DP for my 96 AWD, and I want one with the 2.75" inlet (like many people have here on DSMtuners) to meet my stock o2 housing. But all the ones listed on ebay have 3" inlets on them. Can I fit one with a 3" inlet to my unported o2 housing? Or should I wait to find one that has a smaller inlet? Thanks. :talon:

Edit: I want this and it looks like it necks down at the inlet, so I think this is what I need. Thanks.

The Megan does neck down. From what I am told, the 3" is after the neck. At the flange it is near 2.75" which will meet up fine with your stock O2 housing.
Their posting is sorta incorrect since the it list 3" inlet. Should read 2.75" neck to 3" pipe with 3" outlet.

Sounds good. I thought it did neck down, but some of the sellers werent sure. Ill go ahead an order the DP, and hopefully it will be a good mate to my o2. Thanks.

are their DP's good? it looks like nice quality for only 120 bucks (1g model). I have a home-made 3" turboback and i need to get my car inspected next month. If their good i may buy that DP and a cat and gut it out, and a HKS catback.

I just ordered it today, so Ill post on the quality and fit of it when i get it on, tho there are many threads on this already. :talon:

you might have to put two dents on the side so you can fit the bolts on the o2 housing. I had to. but im useing it on a 1g o2 housing still :( , so it might be different with the 2g

Yeah I saw in some install pics of this downpipe in other threads that those bolts are a tight fit, but Im sure I can make it work. Itll be here on tuesday, so Ill get that thing installed asap. Ill be interesting to see how it goes on, and how hellacious my boost spike/creep will be, haha. Knock on wood. Later. :talon:

the ebay site says it is a 3" inlet 3" outlet. im not sure if that is true??? Ive read that it is 3" through the pipe but tapers to 2.5" at the inlet and outlet, megan racing has not responded to me yet though.

There are two types of MR DP I have seen on ebay. One kind is as you described, it tapers down at BOTH ends, you can see this in the pictures of them. But the other kind is a full 3" at the CAT end, and smaller (2.75in) at the O2 housing end (what I ordered, link at top of page). Tho, I asked a couple sellers with a MR DP for sale, and they said it was 3" inlet and outlet, so maybe there is a third style DP from MR 3" full 100%, I dunno. Alot of guys have bought the one that tapers down at both ends and have cut it off at the CAT end to complete a full 3" system. Hope this helps, cant wait til my DP gets here. :talon:

i recieved my Megan Downpipe yesterday from UPS. i took out my Digital Caliper and messured the damn thing becasue no one really seems to know with these Downpipes. here is what i found.

02 housing flange is 2.776 and tapers into 2.67in
Exhaust Flange is 3.05in and tapers into 2.88in.

i have my megan downpipe on my car right now and you guyts are talking about putting cats on... i dont know if you guys know this already but the megan downpipe eliminates the stock cat on the car so if your planning on wanting a cat your bgoing to have to cut it and weld a new flange in to make room for the cat...

i know its a cat eliminator. i just want to know if it will bolt up to the existing exhaust. im hopeing all you have to do is unbolt the downpipe and catilitic converter and mate up the Cat flange with the 3in Megan flange. is it just that simple?

I doubt it. I can let you know next week tho, when my DP gets here. I have a 3in shop bent catback, but the flange and first few inches of the catback are still factory ( the shop just necked up the pipe after the o2 sensor). So Im installing the DP, then driving to a shop to have those few inches of facory catback chopped out in favor of 3in piping, to complete my 3" system. Hope this makes sense. I doubt that the DP flange will meet with the factory catback flange, I think you will need a 3" catback to mate to this DP. But I will let you know asap.

I just ordered mine also (113.49 shipped), I should have it next Wednesday. I'll take measurements of mine just to compare to the others posted. From the pictures, I ordered the "straighter" exhaust end pipe. We shall see...

It is Tuesday and the downpipe has arrived. Inlet is 2.75" and outlet is 3", as expected. Welds look good and seems to be a good quality downpipe. Obv there has been some debate on how well it fits the 2g AWD, so I'll be going to a muffler shop asap for some fabrication to get this bad boy on the talon. Ill probably be making a post complaining about the creep and/or spike I get with this thing pretty soon, haha. Later.

Yep it's Wed, and mine just arrived. Looks great and just as fatafall said on his 2.75" inlet and ~3" out (actually 2 15/16").
This thing looks great and you can't beat that $113 shipped to your door.

Don't forget to port your shiznit if you do experience creep. I am porting my 18G, 2g mani, and 2g O2 before installing it on the 6-bolt.
Hope to have my car running in a few weeks.
Ltr,
MM
