Has anyone used the Megan racing AFPR? if so, did you need to get a seperate install kit? or does it bolt up?

Its going on a 91 TSi

Thanks,

Domenic

They make good stuff. It will not directly bolt in. You will need to buy an adaptor for the fuel rail. Make sure you buy for the fpr side. I messed up and bought one for the wrond side of the fuel rail when I did it the first time. Anyway, Buy the adaptor and then some braided line from summit or whever and some hose ends. This should get you going.

The megan racing AFPR is not a rising rate regulator. It says so on their website. Which means that it not made for boosted cars. From some of the reviews I have seen on this where people have used it anyways it appears to work ok but I would watch it closely to make sure its working fine.

Here is a thread revival for you.

Anyway, I had one on my talon and constantly had problems with it since it is not a rising rate regulator. If they themselves say it isn't for boosted cars I don't know why so many people insist on using it. (I didn't know it wasn't rising rate beofre I bought it)

it doesnt specifically say that its not for FI cars on the site, but it does say that its not a rising rate unit. thanks for the heads up. i figured i'd bring this one back rather than start another thread.

93_tsi_fwd says he had one and started taking pictures, he has never updated us on it, so guess he failed? pass on this ebay afpr, btw, megan stuff is ebay stuff just with customer service (if you want to call it that) and a bit more expensive.

Fuel pressure must rise on a 1:1 basis with boost, correct?. They don't need to actually say it isn't for turbo cars. It says on the website in capital letters that it is not a rising rate FPR.

Not rising rate = not for turbo cars

thanks, i understand now. i wanted an explanation of the reasoning behind it, not just a do it or dont do it answer but i got my explanation. im not looking to buy either, fyi. i had this unit sitting in my garage and was just wondering whether or not it was worth using. thanks fellas.

No problem, here to help. :thumb:

I also have one sitting in my garage with nothing to do.

Please do not take this the wrong way, but if the manufaturer states that it is not, are you going to listen to them or some "dude" on dsmtalk? It is true that some people get these to work. But they are not intended to work for our application. I had it installed in my Talon. It gave me more headaches than I needed.

Taken from their site just now:

UNIVERSAL FUEL PRESSURE REGULATOR
Model Number : MR-FPR-V2
Megan Racing knows that the fuel system is perhaps the most important system on any performance vehicle. If you don’t have the fuel system to support the power the engine displaces, then your cars performance will suffer or worse take detrimental damage.

For this reason, Megan Racing offers our Adjustable Fuel Pressure Regulator. Made of polished aluminum, this lightweight regulator is universal and offers a 0-100psi-adjustment range to tailor to all your fuel system requirements. A fuel pressure gauge is attached to further assist in fine-tuning. (Note: Professional installation is highly recommended.)

Package comes with fuel line and vacuum line as well as adapters for most 2-Bolt applications. (May not fit your specific vehicle; however a machine shop can fabricate an adapter for your application.)

- Universal Fitment with most Return-Type fuel systems.
- Designed for Fuel-Injection systems only.
- Holds user-defined fuel pressure. (NOT A RISING-RATE REGULATOR)

Selling price $89.95

Yup, I failed this one. Once I got it on the car, it was leakin quite a bit when I pressure tested it.

Its just sitting in my room now collecting dust.

hey thanks for updating some real world experience. this unit is goin on ebay i guess.

i saw you make the thread about this on DSMTalk, such a contrast in responses no?

some people over there claimed for this to work, even a moderator OMG yikes.

one day, we'll have a cheap ebay FPR that is rising for our cars. matter of time until those crazy folks in China reverse engineer the aeromotive one. :p until then, just say no to megan and ebay AFPRS.

Ha, yea that thread over there got a little bit out of hand but eventually came to the same conclusion which was a pleasant surprise. I just want everyone to know that I only intended to use this if I got positive reinforcement from you guys but since I didnt, the unit will be sold I guess. Thanks again.
