so the top fitting on the wastegate goes to the fitting closest to the nob on that boost controller? I kept finding things on internal wastegates, or broken links and other things. I did search for a few hours. :banghead:

The bottom of the waste gate tees off with the top fitting on the BOV, and the bottom fitting on the MBC right? And that little square piece is just a t-fitting?

I'm tryin not to blow myself up LOL.

Just the bottom port on the wastegate needs to be used. You run the line from the boost controller to the bottom port. What type of mbc is it?

Ok the little tee would tap into where you're getting your boost source from, a line from the tee would go to the port with the arrow on the mbc and the other line will come from the mbc bottom port to the wastegate.

top port can be left open. Its normally used for an EBC...

with the boost controller you linked from ebay... how I would hook it up is...

holding the boost controller in your hand with knob facing UP.... the bottom nipple looks to be the inlet... so take your hose and connect it to a boost source (nibble on turbo or j-pipe... you get the point) top nipple on boost controller ( one closest to knob ) would connect to the waste gate (side nipple) and i would leave the top hole or nipple on wastegate open....pretty simple.

Don't worry about it, just leave it open.

Yea the bottom nipple is the inlet, my bad didn't pay close attention to the picture, follow revised instructions above.

What about set ups like this picture? And what about the little square thing with the arrow? Is that a check valve, if so how do I install it?

If you have the turbosmart "tee" like in the post above it only runs from a boost source to the bottom connection. I'm stuckj running one right now, since it has a bleed hole in it it can't function like a normal ball n spring unit on a 2 port external gate.. i actually can't get enough boost out of mine and am troublehsooting it tonight :(

I am still thoughourly confused, here are two different set ups, and the boost controller I have. Does anyone have a definite answer? Also I will be taking my boost off of the BOV line, not the compressor.

I have an external waste gate, with the port on top and bottom.

You don't tee the BOV line.

For my boost pressure. Dont have a bung on compressor, dont feel like drilling right now. But can someone answer my question? Which set up is correct / why? or diff setup? Based on my last post

Both look as sketchy as the controller itself. Check the Tech Articles section.

Both are correct for what they do, but in reality both are flawed.

The top diagram is for an actuator that uses pressure to force it open, the bottom is for an actuator that uses pressure to keep it closed.

Both use pressure from the compressor for both reference and control, which is not always the same as manifold pressure because of the pressure drop across the intercooler.

Boost pressure "reference" should always come from the intake manifold (or some post intercooler source).

Control should come from the compressor housing since it's typically bled off

In these diagrams (aka MBC), one source is used for both pressure and reference.

So you have to compromise and the best choice (in my opinion) is still the manifold source not the compressor housing.

I'm using the line that goes to my boost guage, and BOV, so which set up should I use?

You asked which was correct, yet you're insisting on doing it wrong.

    Enjoy.

Hal gave you a fantastic answer, and articles exist on proper MBC hookup.

This is the end all be all diagram, if you can't figure it out by looking at this thing then you've got bigger problems. If you don't feel like drilling an IC pipe for a pressure source reference then you're lazy, do it the right way or don't do it. ---> Wastegate/Boost Controller Pressure Source

This contradicts everything. Sigh this shouldnt be this hard, im just worried im gonna #### it up.

EDIT: Well what exactly is that "t" fitting, if its the one with the arrow, which way does it go, because this actually makes more sense than anything.

The "T" is the one with the arrow and the arrow points the same direction as the arrow on the MBC, right at it. Its the direction of airflow and the "boost pill" is in that "T" fitting with the arrow...

You're making this WAY too complicated man, its a couple vacuum lines and zip ties. If you'd like I can go into MS Paint and draw it EXACTLY for your application?
