Im pretty new to the dsm's, but i am learning fast. and sometimes you have to ask dumb questions. So here goes, When you guys talk about evo turbos or pistons, are you specifically talking about the lancer evo or a brand of performance parts?

The vehicle. EVO pistons are used in many DSM's. EVO turbo's cannot be used without extensive modifications. There is an EVO3 16g turbo that many people use as well. There are numerous parts that interchange between EVO's and DSM's. Do a little searching to find the answers you are looking for.

Mitsubishi Evolution. Depending on the part it varies in what model I-IX (X is a 4B11 not 4G63) they are talking about.

The only dumb question is the question you don't ask, or however that goes. (sorry, that was pretty pathetic)

No these are not a brand of part. They are parts that were equipped on the evo cars. For example you will hear alot about evo3 16g turbos and they are called that because they were originally equipped with such a turbo on the evos.

just adding onto the reason why not all parts can be used off the lancer evo is because the engine and tranny are on different sides than ours. (turbo eclipses have the engine on the driverside and evos have it on the passanger side and I'm pretty sure they did that just to frustrate me LOL)

Theres no such thing as a dumb question. I was the same way when I first started. Just keep learning and asking questions because we're all more than willing to help.

Does anyone know the reason they switched the side the engine was on in the evos?

Because that way when there is only one person(driver) the engine's weight balances it out thus creating a better handling vehicle.
LOL idk i gave it a shot

Im not going to lie, this is the best answer I have ever heard for this question!

:thumb:Props!:applause:

I think the reason they changed it was there is a smoother transition of power through the AWD system on the 4-9 Evo 4G63t platform. I think I remember reading that somewhere.

ok thats what i thought. But i had to ask, Ive always been a Trans Am guy and not only am I new to the DSM world im also new to imports. Thanks for all of the replies.

Ya it could be that too:shhh:

i doubt its for balancing out the driver seeing as thought the previous 4 generations that we never got were all rhd. but hey it sounded good haha
