One of "Those" Questions

I've been lurking after purchasing my 1990 Talon Tsi Awd, and upon purchase, the guy said it had a 4bolt rear end. Whats the difference between the 3 bolt and the 4 bolt? I was reading : http://www.dsmtuners.com/threads/a-91-gsx-dd-survivor-build.461483/ and he mentioned a 3 and 4 bolt. So I was curious about the difference. I've also been looking at Google on it, but alas. I give.

The 4 bolt will hold up better for launches. Especially if you are launching the car quite a bit. I don't think it actually helps with the launch but holds up better.

I don't know the right word for it but the difference is 3 bolt only has 3 bolt holes connected to the differential/axle and 4 bolts is 4 bolts connected to do differential/axle. its basically like 240sx talk when they sell axles and diffs.

I have a three bolt rear and is has worked fine since 2007 on rally car.
