I just got my car back together after a motor rebuild. I bought the car with a slipped tb. New head and valvetrain and pistons and some bolt ons and its alive again. What is max stock boost on my car. I thought it was 14 and I barely tip 10. I have a 91 gsx. I just found out today that the bov was hooked up wrong as well as the wastegate. i used taboo to properly hook up all my vacuum lines.

Yeah stock boost is about 14 psi. If you're bov and wastegate are hooked up wrong either or both could be causing the low boost.

They were wrong before. Somebody who had the car before me did it wrong. They had the bov hooked up to the waste gate solenoid. not the intake, that intake line was running onto the back of the maf. I swapped them and checked all the vacuum and all is good now. The bov is working the way it should now.

Yeah the cluster says that, but do factory 1gs reach 14 psi? I could be completely wrong though, I dont mess with 1gs much.

I suggest you get yourself a real boost gauge if you're going to be modding the car, that should be your first mod.

Edit: Here you go;

1000 AAQ - DSM factory specifications

At about half way down, factory boost is between 8-12 psi on a 1G.

I do have one in there right now. I am not even getting to ten psi. it runs really good but i thought it would be higher than 10. It says the stock setup will run 8-12. What does that mean? In certain gears (1st and 2nd is lower and higher gears its higher)?I want to get the most out of it before I start moding. Also, do i have a 14g or 16g in my car?

Factory boost control on a dsm is load based. It is also refrenced off of the "octane" timing map. If your car sees knock it is stored in the memory of the ecu. This value is used to calculate lower boost, and timing. Most of the ones i've seen were around 10 psi.

You know the car sat for 13 months with a full tank. i am down to half a tank of the same gas right now. I have only been driving the car for about 2 days. i did put fuel stabile and an octane booster in it but I know that wont do much.

Plus I am pretty sure the cat is bad. Its not affecting driving the car but I can smell it. I am going to gut the thing this weekend. I have yet to hear any detonation but I guess the computers sensor will pick it up before I can hear it.

Bro without a MBC you can't mess with how much boost your car is running. I can run 17psi on my 13g (smller than 14b) if I wanted to with a MBC so without one you are gonna run your 9-12lbs of boost STOCK!

My Talon was sitting right at 10psi stock. Verified by a real boost gauge (aftermarket).

1g 5-speeds came with a 14b.
1g automatics came with a 13g.

Plus i have a set of 550cc injectors, A 16g and a chip to run that setup. Just need a front mount and a down pipe. I have an exhuast bender(mandrel) at my shop here to build the cat back. I just want it to be faster

Yes but old gas wont make your boost lower.It will register knock easier and when the ecu gets knock the ecu gets the signal to pull timing and when timing gets pulled you will deffenatly feel the dip in power.So yeah get rid of that gas and put some good gas in that thing while your at it...

Yeah. I am waiting to put more parts on after my first oil change. My friend owned the car before me. he wanted his TB and waterpump changed. He called around town and found a shop that(knew how to work on these) 20 miles later he shifted 2nd and heard the worst noise youd ever want to hear. He called me. I brought over my Comp tester and zeros across the board. the shop would not warranty the wrok so it sat for a year. then he sold it to me. i tore the whole motor down. Got a good used casting head and bought all new valvetrain parts and pistons and rebuilt it. I got it running a few weeks ago but it was rough. I now have it running pretty dam good. I jst want it to run as good as stock before I start uping the boost ans a front mount and all the rest i want to do to it.
