I'm thinking about a replacement DSM for this summer and I'm wondering how much a fully built auto trans could handle roughly. High stall torque converter, modified valve body, end clutch, shift kit, rebuilt pump, external tranny cooler, etc...

Each transmission vendor is going to have a different 'built' transmission. IPT for instance had thier transmission go 9.7 @ 139 which is probably close to 600hp at the wheels if not more. I am sure Transdude will comment.

im a complete newbie to tuning my DSM, but what exactly does a shift kit do? I have a friend who told me to get a K & N filter and a shift kit and i'd be pretty good...but i dont really understand what a shift kit is. Any help will be appreciated!! thanks!
