I recently pruchased a Master poer t3/t4 50 trim. A whopping 75 miles later the oil seal on the exhaust side let loose. I sent the turbo to master power for them to inspect the turbo and then approve the warranty. After a few days for not being able to talk to anyone at master power, I was told that the turbo can't be covered on warranty due to "excessive heat" and "too high oil pressure". Can you seriously believe that excessive heat would be the cause after 75 easy driven miles. I'm not impressed by master power's warranty. :barf:

A lesson learned the hard way. However, rebuilding a turbo yourself is not that difficult. Try to find a rebuild kit, then after its done, if you want, send it in to a company to balance the entire rotating assembly for about $40.

However, stating scammers names is against the rules, so please edit your post, just say that you bought a turbo from a not very popular company.

I'm willing to bet that it won't be the president of Master Power. These things are everywhere and everywhere they are failing. I'm sure the supplier has a chain of people to use to be his supplier and of course the ultimate Pres. or CEO of Master Power. I've seen these schams before. The president will tell you that it's crap and will swap it out for you. Same thing will happen and next time it will be your fault and it won't get replaced.

Then when and if I get the turbo replaced, I will have one for sale. I'm going to pay the extra money for a turbo from another company I dealt with before that the turbo will take 25 lb boosts for over 50,000 miles. Makes me wander why I ever switched.

I was curious and went to the ssautochrome website. If you look at their turbocharger section, they sell the BIG 16G EVO 3 MITSUBISHI TURBO. There is one picture from far away that you can't enlarge. Then there is a really close up picture that you can enlarge of the turbine housing and it says "A/R0.70". I don't see this anywhere on my Evo 16G. There is a 070 but I think it's part of the part number or something. There are other pictures of the turbo installed, but they're taken from above and all you can see is the exhaust manifold.

So this is clearly not a MHI unit, but you wouldn't know from their site.

Oh, if you scroll down further you'll find that they also carry the "disco french fry" turbo for your Nissan.

SSautochome sells XS turbo

There obviously junk, On hondatech i seen a kid who had one and the compressor cover litterly split in half  :toobad:

Just to make sure it is clear, the Evo III 16G sold by SSAutochrome is not the same one sold by Turbochargers.com and RRE. The ones sold by SSAutochrome are made by some company (can't find the email they sent me) but it is not the same company that manufactures the turbos for RRE and Turbochargers.com. It comes wit ha 30 day warranty. The latter turbos are manufactured by BBL and are warrantied for 1 year/12,000 miles. This is NOT the same turbo and is probably (I've never seen either, but judging by price) a much lower quality unit. Just thought I'd make that clear before people start getting up in arms about the evo 3 gt.

They're both cast with the "EVO GT" on the comp. side and the AR .70 on the turbine housing, unless you have definitive proof that there are in fact TWO E16G knock-offs out there, you may want to re-think that statement. Anyone can buy these things from BBL and whore them out.

Alex told me 2 days ago that their facility is flooded due to the hurricane. I can't even get ahold of him now at all. I can't even tell them to rebuild the turbo. I should have paid the extra money and bought from a company that has less than 1 week rebuild time....not a month and counting. :sosad: :notgood: :nono: :barf:

Still trying to get a hold of Alex. I can only get through every 20 calls. I have now missed every car show this summer and all the other work that was scheduled to be done on my car ahas been postponed. I am really getting pissed off now.

Keep updated.

Not to defend of condone, just FYI there are some very fast people running MP t-70's and haveing no issues with them. Check out all of the turbo mustang forums, and one certain Pruven Evo flogging Evo2 out fo Chicago has good luck with then :thumb:

That is all a bunch of crap about your turbo. I did not even buy my turbo from Precision, but they covered it under warranty even though it was almost a year past the purchase date. That is a company to deal with. :thumb: Good luck with your turbo though, I hope you can unload it if you feel the need.
