This item, though very nicely constructed, turns out to be an ajustable bleeder valve MBC, not a ball spring MBC. The "ball spring part" is in the boost Tee. In otherwords it's a check valve/non adjsutable MBC with a piggly back bleeder for raising boost. Wouldn't be a huge problem except it leaks as low as 1psi past the ball, negating any benefit of having it there.

Unfortunately this product is a big flop, which is a shame since I ordered it on a friday am and got it monday am and the piece is nicely assembled out of cast aluminum (not billet).
I figured If i got stiffed I'd close my Paypal account and do a dispute with the CC company to get my money back, plus I just wanted to try something other than a Home Depot Special.

I sent two emails to the vendor on Ebay since 1 am this morning when i first opened the package, we'll see how they chose to resolve this.

Um you ordered a product, and they sent you a undamaged product.

If the product doesn't function as well as others, that is no means to return it. Thats like buying a genaric air filter and saying it doesnt flow as well as a K&N I want my money back.

This is why you research stuff before you buy it.

Oh and a 2nd the Joe P. Never gave me any problems. Only wish the adjustment knob didnt rust on me... still works perfect though.

I was perfectly happy with my home depot special for well over a year until it somehow vibrated the adjuster's lock nut loose and shot its guts out going down a dirt road at 80mph.

I wasn't going to spend $50+ for a home depot built MBC when <$15 would score another homedepot special from Voodoo. I shouldn't have gotten tempted into trying something new, but I figured I could at least stop anyone else from wasting their money if it turned out to be a pile. It's a very nice bleeder unit. But I'm AWD with a 14b. I like my boost as sudden as possible.

OH and ripperxx. They said in the listing multiple times it was a ball spring unit. it isn't. they go on about how the ball spring design is superior and this is what they use, but then it turns out to be a bleeder. IF they didn't say it was a ball spring, I wouldn't have bought the thing. You are assuming that they did not specify what it was, or that I'm some dumb punk with more money than sense... I do research before I purchase, but no one had ever done a write up on it. I figured for the good of the community I'd give it a shot. If it didn't work great, but was a ball spring I would not be pissed, and I would modify it to make it work great and disclose how.

It's defective and not as advertised. Either they give me my money back, or I file a dispute with the CC company, and both them and paypal can take it in the rectum. I don't really care if Paypal gets pissed and says I owe them money, nor that my feedback will go from 100% to 75% on ebay.

Funny, those joe P's are home depot specials too. I bet I could buy the upgrade kit and just fix my old HD special.

I just love how I decided to put my ass and my money on the line to find out if something is any good, and then when i post a warning that it isn't what they say it is (note i haven't tested it yet on the car to see if it even works ok or not) I get a bunch of "i love joe p" posts, and one from ripper implying that I'm an idiot. Thanks ripper for your highly informative post. I guess I was an idiot to care enough about the DSM community to actually take some risk with my own money and share my results.

thanks DSMtuners... this would be why I rarely log in here, and spend most of my time on NABR, Team 2g or talk now. I used to love it here, but damn.

hey i just bought the cheapest one off of ebay, 5.95 buy it now plus 5.95 shipping, for a total of 12 bucks. Its a ball and spring just like they say with a billet body, i havent installed it yet but its sitting in front of me and after dissabling and inspecting it looks great.

Good lord, take a chill pill Rick. :notgood:

at least they are good (once i sent about 3-4 emails) about apologizing for the mistake and will issue me a refund for everything exceppt the $1 shipping and the cost of return once i send it back to them.

I'm gonna get a black on black voodoo to replace it, then see about trying to find a Galant Vr4 to trade for. With a 3 year old son and another son on the way in November, the talon isn't going to do me much good anymore.

I also have one of those, the thing seems to work well. It always held the desired boost like it was suppose to and adjusted as low as 12 psi for a while (on stock injectors) without a problem?

Maybe yours is defective?

no, I never hooked it up. It simply is NOT a ball spring MBC as advertised. It's a bleeder MBC.

But does it work? I mean a mbc is a mbc to most people whether its a bleeder or ball and spring. Good looks with the write up though.

After I took the check valve/ unchangeable ballspring boost controller out of the metal T, I got 9 psi on an 8 psi wastegate.

After drilling it the hell out i got 12.

Worthless POS... sorry for not responding earlier, I sold the Talon and went over to a Black on black BMW e34 5 series Wagon. Been a long time since I logged in.
