Hey everyone,

I recently installed a Profec B Spec 2 into my GST and I've been having a wierd issue with it showing the correct setting for warning (16.0 psi) but the warning goes off way before it even gets to 16 psi, which I checked with both the Profec boost readout and my mech. boost gauge. Right now its set to hit about 14 psi but it goes off around there too. If I navigate to the warning setting, it shows 16, and if I hit set, then go WOT it won't go off this time, and it acts like its supposed to, but as soon as I turn the car off and back on it will go off at the wrong psi. Rather annoying to have it beeping at me when its nowhere near danger levels. Anyone else had this problem?

Also, anyone know if its supposed to read vacuum correctly? Mine only reads down to like -99.

Thanks!

Where are your boost sources? I have a similar problem with having 2 different boost readings from my gauge and my spec 2 bc. They are getting their source from different locations so that will cause the different readings. Get the same source or just increase the warning level on your bc.

The source for the gauge comes off the same line as the profec is hooked up too.

The problem with the warning is that I have increased it, and everytime I turn on the car I have to go to the setting, which still shows my previous setting, and press the set button, or the warning will go off around 12 psi.

I get the same thing happening to me. Mine beeps and flashes red at me when I get around 12ish psi. But the setting to lower boost when it exceeds a certain percentage doesn't kick in until my set value. I have no idea why it does this. I just assume that its telling me that its doing its job. If anybody has insight on why the Profec does this I would like to know.

I'm starting to believe its because its a piece of crap. I emailed Greddy and they said to take it to my authorized dealer (which I bought it new off ebay so no chance) and they will warranty it. So basically its messed up if it does that and i'm screwed or I can reset it everytime I get in the car, yay.

Does it still hold you boost, or does it lower your boost setting? What is broken about it other than it throwing a fit when you boost bast 12psi?

"Another very important thing to keep in mind is that when you first power on your car or the Greddy unit, WARNING will be set to 14.5 psi (100kPa, or 1 bar) until you interact with the Greddy unit by pressing any button. This "feature" is not documented in the manual."

This is probably your issue, with the alarm resetting ecah time the car is turned off, I remember reading something about this when I was bying an ebc. Sounded like a pain in the ass to me so I went with the profec type s. Even if you did get it off an authorized dealer don't expect fast warranty repair service. Maybe its just my luck but I had to send back 2 of my greddy products for warranty repair, one took 7 months while the other took 4  .

Fantastic advice. That cleared it right up.

So the warning resets everytime you turn off the car? WTF? That doesn't make any sense. If I set it to 16, I want 16 everytime I start up the car, until I change it to something else. Bah.
