Manual Boost Controllers ?>

Sup peoples so I was doing some searching and still couldn't find the answer I wanted (did find some funny threds like "you know your a dsm'er when..."

but I just wanted to hear what Manual Boost controllers people thought were the best.
I'm thinking about spending about $130 on a Turbo XS (high performance one) so I can turn my star kit up to 8psi when I get my car tuned.

Any advice before I buy?

Turbo xs is a good one.. alot of turbo guys use it.havent heard anything bad about it yet.

Yeah, kyle is gonna hook me up with one. So I'll be boosting and tuning 8psi when we go.

you mean barb's? you also need a hex nipple, nut, and tap. we will see how my home made $15 one works in a week or so too... ill be getting rid of it for a Profec B spec 2 soon

You'll be sorry.. Profec B Spec 2 IMO is horrible. Way to hard to control/use. I spent 2 hrs installing it, and then spent another hour uninstalling it the same day. The ebay special, or home made MBC are just fine, its what i use and i love it.

My friend has a Profec B spec2 in his 300Z and that thing kicks ASS I was thinking about getting one
Atleast until I can figure out how to let the electromitve control boost properly that boost grid is crazy

very hard to tune IMO. Might be good for the guys on 2gnt because they didnt try to run the kind of boost i was. (21+lbs) Don't take offense to that, its not a hit or anything. Its complicated to get to work right, but i guess if you got it working correctly it might be good. Only way is to try. There are to many factors on it to set, id rather just get out and turn the MBC instead. On the profec you have the set the gain and stuff like that. hopefully you have better luck than i did. Remember though the profec B will only let you double your gate pressure. IE: gate is set at 4, most you can run is 8.

the guys on 2gnt i saw talking about it all had built engines running decent boost, i believe 15+ psi.

explain this only able to run double the boost thing, this doesnt sound right. are you sure about that? why is that?

i read about it here on tuners and a few other places. basically its adjusted by % and the highest you can go is 100% boost, which is double the gate.. here are some links:

i would get the avcr but its so much $$$ and it doesnt come in black to match my s-afc

my friends sells the SRP manual boost controllers on Ebay, has sold over 2 thousand in the past year, all my friends use them, so i have for the past 1.5yrs as well. rock solid! and i think it's about $15 shipped. works the same as my $100 ExtremeMBC that i had on the other car.

I use to have the Turbo XS Standard Boost Controller. I paid about $70 from JC Whitney. (i think was JCW). I was happy with it before I sold it on ebay. I don't know why i sold it actually....

ummm an function? everything is digital on the 2, the one has knobs and shit. the 2 has digital boost and percentage readouts.

what i was talking about was the solenoid. It goes by % like i said. 100% is the max which doubles your gate pressure, so if you run a 5psi gate you get 10psi. at 100% on the profec
