calgary,
First off when I am driving my stereo just turns off whenever theres a bass hit on the song, it never used to do this. Also my headlights will flicker and my dashboard will dim... What could be the reason for this? (I just got a brand new battery)

Second when I press more than 50 percent throttle it sounds like one of the hoses is flapping? And it makes no power at all, even though the boost gauge is reading 13. Like it goes faster at 1/4 throttle than full. What could this be?

:confused::confused:

1. Possibly a bad alternator or alternator fuse.

2. Do a boost leak test. You probably have a huge boost leak.

My radio once did the same thing i didn't notice the dash dimming or anything but check how many volts are coming out your alternator.... Then make sure ALL of those volts are getting to the battery. Then i would check ground on radio, or any other aftermarket sound equment you have

Heres the thing, when the cars not running the stereo still cuts out , and that wouldn't have anything to do with the alternator if the motor is off?

Agreed. Definitely do a boost leak test. It doesn't matter if your gauge is showing 13 psi. You can still have a huge leak. Also, your system seems to be drawing more current then it used to or you have a bad connection. Recheck your battery terminal and sound system connections. That's where I would start.

My battery is only reading 13.2 when the car is running. I hear it should be 14.2 would this be the issue?

Seems to be leaking around the throttle body and some from boost controller area... Hard to pinpoint. I did a boost leak test.

What should my battery voltage be with car running ?

im not sure what the battery voltage should be but it's closer to 14v, 14.2 if im not mistaking...charge your battery or better yet take it to advance auto parts and they will do a complete test for you for free

Having voltage of 13.2 is a little low. However, when the engine is at normal operating temperature the voltage will lower slightly. That voltage isn't low enough for me to believe that's what's causing your problem. Did you check your battery terminal and sound system connections like I recommended earlier? Also, did this start to happen from the moment of the new battery was installed? If it did, then your sound system may be drawing too many amps for your new battery.

It happened earlier so I replaced the battery. If I charge the battery it's good for a while, then it won't start eventually.

First off, my car has had some of these issues as well. Look at the lower and upper intercooler pipes, especially the lower and j pipe (if applicable to your turbo). I would tighten down these clamps, but make sure they are on all they way, because some of them come off a bit and tightening won't help. I never did a boost leak test because i didn't have the tools/money so this is a substitute and if you are lucky it will work. You may also have a small electrical problem but i know very little about tha t stuff. This will be very effective if you have stock piping.

I solved all electrical issues by replacing the alternator :D

Now onto the boost leak. The test it was coming out by the throttle body... Seems hard to fix

Sounds like you have a pretty big system in that car, wouldn't hurt to do the "big 3" if you haven't already done so.
