I'm about to dive into rebuilding the block and I'd like some input on what main / rod bearings to use. Should I go with aluminum or tri metal bearings. I'm leaning towards the tri-metal bearings and I have three contenders to pick from: Clevite P series, Clevite H series and King XPC. Which one would be the best pick for a street car with some long road trips and reliability being number one priority. The build plan is to have 7 bolt block with mildly upgraded rods and pistons, t28 turbo, mild cams and bolt ons. Basically I'm just looking for slight upgrade from oem bearings.

Same here! ACL Tri-metal when I can get them.

I use cheap aluminum bearings even in my 1xxxwhp builds. It should not matter. If you have bearing wear problems, it is not the bearings fault. A material or name on the box is not going to fix or withstand poor oiling or improper clearance.

The crankshaft and bearings should never touch. So it does not matter what you put in there.

I agree with this quote. I have also used ACL aluglides with no issue. Clevite H series is also a good decent brand. Heck you could use Hastings if you needed to.
