Machinist I took my 6bolt too couldnt work on it because he didnt have anything small enough to do a bore the size of mine. But anyways he said I needed to know which side of the pistons are the intake side and which way the rods go in and how the wrist pins go in. I took it to him because i didnt know any of that stuff, i assumed the intake side of the pistons had the larger dents in them and was on the top of the numbers (cause when the pistons are in the block the numbers shouldnt be upside down)

but i found a machinist that can do a 4cylinder, what do i need to tell them as far as piston and rod assembly???

If your machinist is asking you those questions, I would definitely take it somewhere else. I understand they need to know basic clearances but come on..

i bought 6 bolt ross 8.5:1 pistons

there are no dsm shops around here, or even import machinists... Do I just need to get them a 1g haynes manual?

I couldnt agree more

yeah I understand all that, But that doesnt help me get the work done. I have no dsm or 4cyl shops around here that do this regularly, so I just wanted some info to goto them with so maybe I can get this done.

Machine work is machine work. With the hundreds of motors I have done machine work on half of them I didn't even know what they went in. If he can't bore the block because it's an import he is being stuck up or is scared. The way the piston goes in also won't matter unless he is assembling it. That information is irrelivant. But yes the larger dents are for the larger intake valve's.

the reason he couldnt bore it is because the width of the smallest part of the machine was greater than 85mm. anyways I will just ask around, someone will have a way to do it i hope. Thanks for the info
