block bore questions

I purchased stock pistons, 20 over and had my machinist bore out the block... I haven't put it back together but am thinking about using forged pistons instead. Can I buy 20 over forged pistons and be ok, or should the new pistons be 30 over and have the block bored again to match the new pisotons?

What I always do is buy the pistons and rings and take those to the machine shop, since different manufacturers have different bore specs that need to be followed.

If you want to use forged pistons than you are going to need to have the cylinders honed to get a little extra clearance for the pistons.

I did read it, but what I was referring to is that your specs will be different and they need to know what the difference is. Like bryanwheat stated they most likely need to hone it a bit.

The block may need to be honed an additional .001 for the PTW to be correct

So you should be close, just need a touch up hone with the proper grit stones for ring seal.
