Questions about block

Yesterday I was looking at a turbo motor at the junkyard. There was a piece of valve cover missing from the car being as it was in a wreck and the intake manifold was split off down where it bolts to the head etc.... Anyways, I tore the head off (after chisseling the ice out of the head bolts with a screwdriver) and what I saw made me wonder. There was ice down in every cylinder on each piston. Quite a bit also. My question is will the block and most importantly the pistons still be good? I got a n/t block I plan on using but with the ice down there, will the pistons be good and would any of the water have leaked down into the crankcase? Any help would be appreciated seeing as it would save me a trip to the junkyard to get the motor.

it depends on your intentions for the motor...if you are planning to pull it apart, send the block out to be dipped and honed, then rebuild it, it will be fine. however if you are planning on just pulling it out and slapping it in your rig...find a less neglected motor...preferably without precipitation all over the internals

Well like I said, I have a n/t block I will be using I just wanted to know if the turbo block could be salvaged. You think the pistons should be alright if I get them cleaned up?

dont see why they wouldnt be.ice wouldnt do anything to the pistons. it might hurt the cylinder walls but i doubt that too. jsut pull the block get you pistons/rods and the take the block to a machine shop and have them check it out. if its still good then you have an extra block to play with, if not oh well you didnt need it anyway

Thats what I was thinking also. I just wanted to be sure. I think 1 of the motor mounts busted off the block so I'll probably scrap the block.
