Machine Shop ?

Will machine shops put the engine together for you? and if so how much would this cost me around?

I came into a snag with friends who were promising to help finish this build who are mechanics totally bail out on me...


so any ideas?

like saying i bought all the parts.. just had them put it together..
how much would labor be?

My buddy just had this done and it ran him 1k. He didnt have every part plus he got work done like hot tanked ans a BSE. What do you need done exactly

i just had my machine shop do all the cleaning, boring, surfacing, valve job, crank.. all that jazz.

But my friend said he would help build the engine, and bailed. (who build 3 motors)

Now, im stuck. I can't build it myself. This is my first motor, but my gst is my life. I have to do it some how..

I can order all the parts.. i got like 1500$ ready to go for a rebuild. and more money coming every week... but i can't do it myself\


HELP!

But if i can get confermation that the machine shops do in fact assemble the engines... ill prob end up doing that.

And yes, quite a few machine shops will do assembly for you. Just have to call around and ask. Also, pricing is going to be varied by location, so get a rough estimate from them while you have them on the phone.

Call around for pricing and see how they all do their thing. Head/block resurfacing, make sure it's not a belt sander but a high speed cutter.

Most machine shops will have no problem assembling an engine and if you go down to the machine shop and talk to some of the workers or a manager and ask them if they feel comfortable doing it that would be a huge plus. If you play your cards right they might even let you watch or take some pictures so next time this comes around you could do it yourself and save some money. If I had to give a rogue estimate I would say somewhere between 500-750 dollars to assemble a motor "IF" you have every part they need to do it and they just charge you labor.

Just noticed where you are. Head towards Blairsville on 22, there should be an engine builder near the drag strip a few miles past Latrobe. I heard good things about them. I just can't remember the name off hand.

hey, i just finished doing my first build and it really isnt hard, buy a manual and do it yourself, it sucks paying someone to do work for you. If you have any questions you can pm me and I'll help as best i can. how far along are you?
