Machine shop?

I am just beginning my rebuild,and I currently live in a small town with one local machine shop. Any other machine shop is 3-5 hours away from me. I talked to the local machine shop here and he has done a few 4g63 blocks in the past. He told me they are "fun," and I continued to ask him if he recomends a torque plate...He told me that he is not against them but doesnt recomend them with that particular block.He has been there 20+ years and does have alot of knowledge though. I have heard good things about him from local shops and a few bad things from local people. I was wondering If I should take my block to someone who has a vast knowledge of the 4g63 block rather that taking the chance with him. my setup includes Eagle Crank,Eagle rods,and Ross pistons.

Any input is appreciated.

There really is nothing special about the 4g63 engine. It's just an inline 4. With 20+ years experience I would say he is still in business for a reason. As for the torque plate...http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/cyl...ate-merged-11-6-a.html?highlight=torque+plate
