First off I have a 90 tsi awd. It was originally a 3 bolt lsd rear. I got a 4 bolt diff from a friend who got it along with some other parts he bought, but didnt need the rear. We had been told it was a lsd rear, but after putting it in the car I realized that the wheels turned opposite directions if I spun one. I am pretty sure that this means it is non lsd correct? I am not real familiar with the viscous style diffs.

Anyway, here is the problem. I was just recently able to drive the car(it was down fro a bunch of other mods too). Well, the car has a bad vibration now, and I think I have narrowed it to the passenger axle being bad. I had traction issues even with my 3 bolt lsd before I broke it LOL. I really want to put a lsd back in. I just need to know if there is a way to tell for sure if this is or isnt a lsd rear. If its not, can the 3 bolt lsd be swapped into it? Also, is the drivers axle the same on lsd and non? Will I just need the passenger axle if I get a different diff, or both basically is what I am wondering.

Thanks.

Ben

On the LSD rears the passenger axle has 2 sets of splines. Does it have a sticker on it that says b1h?

If I remember right the able had the dual set of splines, but the wheels spinn opposite directions when I turn them. The diff didn't have rear cover on it when I got it. I swapped cover off of my 3 bolt.

Pulled passenger axle last night. It is an lsd rear. Think the viscous must be shot.. I wonder if I could swap the viscous out of the lsd unit in my 3 bolt into the four bolt. Not sure if they are the same.
