I was denied for the ball joint recall, so I am replacing them myself. I was able to get 2 new lower arms with ball joints for $95 shipped. On the old arms, on the end opposite the ball joint, there were rubber bushings on each side of the pivot hole. The new ones did not have these and there wasnt room for any either. I was just wondering if this is normal, maybe a revision or something. Thanks.

Well I installed them anyway as they came. I have noticed a click noise a few times going over speedbumps. Any ideas? Did I do something wrong? Also I couldnt get a torque wrench on the ball joint nut, so I just got them as tight as I could with an adjustable wrench. I think they were supposed to be torqued to ~65, so that should be close.

The part numbers for the new arms are mr972465+6. Can anyone verify this? And why are they slightly different than the ones that were on there?

i dunno what to tell you, i got mine from work for $80 each with the bushings and everything. have you tried asking them about it? i know we get mispackaged/bad parts all the time that we have to send back. maybe it was a goof, but its worth asking about.

I called them up and they said thats how they come now. Some sort of a revision. He said I shouldnt need them. I dont know though. I ended up cutting them to fit, because I kept hearing a click type noise going over bumps. I also didnt think that it should be rubbing.

I placed an order with JNZ for two lateral control arms for my car. I ordered the part numbers found on CAPS which are MR296295 and MR296296. However, when the parts came both the control arms and the invoice had the part numbers MR972465 and MR972466. I talked to JNZ and they said

The # you ordered is no longer made, for some reason the Mitsu parts listing does not make an auto-super seeded #. In fact the ones we sent you don't even come up in parts on the PNC look up for some reason. Wish I could give you an answer.

Anybody got a clue on this one? Are the arms I received superseded parts? Without crawling underneath my car to check, the new arms look very much like the stock ones on my car now.

The left one lists:
MR162579
MR296295
MR972465

The right one lists:
MR162580
MR296296
MR972466

I ordered the 2 Spicer ones and they are nice and stiff. It really tightened up my car. The old ones were woren out and failed inspection. The one had more than 1/16" of play in the socket! WTF

Thanks, so that implies they are the same. I'm hesitant to believe an "aftermarket" page though. Still looking for more confirmation if anyone can help out.

I got confirmation from Jess at extremepsi that the control arms I received are in fact the superseded parts to the ones I ordered.

Eric, I'm not able to log into the site to verify here at work but I'm pretty sure the reason why you ordered one part number & received another was because there was a Recall/TSB on your origional part number. The part number you received should be the revised version. I can verify the numbers when I get a chance but off memory those sound like the correct numbers. I recently checked my car in CAPS & the superseded part number didn't show up there, nor did it when I checked an online Mitsu site, but it looks like the old part # is no longer available.
