I took my car (1998 Talon Tsi AWD) to the dealer to check if it had the recalls done (they were) after I noticed a slight rattle coming from the front right wheel area when I hit a bump. They informed me that the curved lower control arm was worn and needed replacement and that part was not part of the recall. They quoted me something $385 for the replacement part...no way I'm getting it through the dealer.

I found this part on ebay and am wondering if anyone knows if it is the proper part.
Part

Also if anyone has replaced that part, how difficult was it? And I assume I will need to get my alignment done after install.

Thanks for the help,
Rick

you'll need a blow torch to get that off as well as two 17 open ends i think. and you will, unless you get it on perfectly, need an alignment.

That part will fit on my car and is the curved control arm then?

Seems control arms are very confusing as I have been clueless as to what is covered by the recall and what to actually call parts. I am using the wording I was given by the dealership 'Front Curved Arm'.

Thanks

that looks like it - you can also get it for pretty cheep from worldparts.net
FYI - the other arm is called a lateral arm.
u dont need an alignment after the install - (as long as you dont move the tierod ends)
and as long as the bolts come out easy - its not that hard to do.

That's the part. I went to the junkyard and pulled one from a 96 Dodge Avenger to replace mine.
