Hey guys so I got a 99 Eclipse GS and replaced the head of my 420a with one from a 1st gen turbo Dodge Neon SRT4. I went and replaced the headgasket and put everything back together and now I have low compression on piston 2 which is at 60 while the others are ranging between 125 and 120.

My buddy says to check the valve clearance but not sure how to do that and I'm still pretty new to DSM's as well as the forums, thanks in advance!

So you installed an SRT4 Neon head on a 420a Eclipse engine? How'd you pull that off? Since it's a reverse flow head, you would have needed a custom downpipe, and custom exhaust header if not using the turbo, and there is no clearance to close the hood with the intake manifold on the front of the car. I'd love to see pictures.

Honestly I just installed it how I had the original 420a head it all went in smoothly I don't know if that affects it too much but I just matched the intake and the headers to the gaskets and put them on right now she cranks but wont fire because of the low compression

That's just a regular 420a cylinder head. The SRT4 head is completely different.

Was the compression as low before installing this head?
Never ran comp test on it before it but the car was running and then one of the valves got messed up and the head had a bunch of issues with it so I just went ahead and swapped it, replaced the headgasket and then when i put everything back together cylinder 2 had low comp and she wouldnt turn over could it actually have something to do with valve clearance?

You will need to perform a leak down test. The leak down test will be able to determine where you are losing compression pressure. Basically you pressurize the low compression cylinder to (lets say 100psi) and then with the valve cover off you will be able to feel if the extra 40psi is coming out of the cylinder head or coming out of the bottom of the motor into the oil pan

Most likely the engine has a damaged piston ring, bent rod, bottom end damage.
