I just got my car back last week from the shop, everything was going fine until earlier today when i went to get on it and noticed i couldnt hear the turbo trying to spool, the car had been sitting for 5months before i started driving it, i did however start it up and let it run about once a week, any one have any ideas? somebody told me from having it sit it could have an issue with the oil being low? not really sure.. anyhow any help will be greatly appreciated. it also looks like a little bit of white smoke is coming out of the exhaust, but if it was a blown head gasket would that cause my turbo not to spool?

Yes a blown head gasket can cause it to spull slow! It might not be that! I would do a boost leak test and change your air filter.

so a boost leak or bad air filter would cause a little white smoke from the exhaust aswell?

damn, thats a brand new head gasket they put on :( hope its neithor that or the turbo, turbo isnt even a year old LOL

Do a boost leak test first before you start unbolting things check for air bubbles in your coolant.

the turbo is from zero lift auto here in cincinnati ohio, they did all the work on the car. i have paid them over 25k for all the mods, not really looking to take it back to them again. its definatly not a ebay turbo LOL

haha well thats good i was just making sure you dint buy some crap one like alot of kids on here do then get angry when it dies but if it is the turbo going bad i would def take it back to them with your papers of when you had it done becasue it def should not go bad in a year unless your just absolutely beating the piss out of it haha

OMG 25k for all the mods? Thats crazy. I hope your running in the 9s.

heh no, high 10's

however i just looked at my coolant level, i dont even see any coolant :/
i dont know much about these cars, as you can see i had zerolift auto do everything

i dont think the coolant level would affect the turbo not spooling though am i wrong? my boost gauge goes a little over 0, maybe 1-2 then thats as far as it will go. im not sure whats going on here.. i did smell the dipstick though, i dont smell any coolant, so i doubt the head gasket is blown..

No coolant!!! I'd say head gasket then.

Hopefully not!!!!!

Well 10s are still good. When you open the radiator you should be seeing coolant. Also, in the overflow tank. If you dont then its leaking from somewhere, hopefully causing it to smoke white.

Head Gasket FTW

ya i dont see any coolant whatsoever in the overflow or in the radiator cap where it should be full.. is it possible they forgot to fill it up? if so what type of damage would that do.. basically, if its their fault i obviously dont want to pay anything for them to fix it..

It would blow your motor if there is no coolant in it. Fill it up, let it bubble and check for leaks. Or just replace the head gasket and then bleed the system

ill let them handle that, since i just got it back from them.. they said they had to get a bigger head gasket because the one they had it tested on couldnt handle it or someting, so they put a stronger one on it, apparantly it wasnt that strong..

hmm someone mentioned something about a wastegate and a pin? could that cause it to smoke from exhaust as well? would definatly explain no boost, but not sure if that would cause the smoke or not

I had the no boost issue on my 91 gsx but didn't notice any smoke and my wastegate was the problem, I changed it and everything was fine
