This is what's happening to my 97 eclipse gst.
At first I thought it was a boost leak. When I gun it I can hear the turbo spool up and my boost gauge reads 10psi (which is what I have it set at right now). All the sudden I will lose boost power and it will just feel like a n/a motor, but the turbo's still spooling and it says 10psi boost. Was starting to make a boost leak tester and got in touch with a guy at autozone and he rebuilds dsm's all the time. He said that is what happening is the auto tensioner is messing up causing the belt to stretch (which is where i feel the power loss) and when it stretches it's moving teeth on the cam gears, which is why my timing is off. the timing marks do not line up either, they're about 2-3 teeth off.
should I just replace the auto tensioner, or the auto tensioner and the ilder pulley too?
need to get this fixed ASAP, as I drive it as a dailey driver.
