So i blew the clutch in my GSX I have a ACT 2100 with a Street disc. I wanna Upgrade for something a lil stonger. I've got a 7bolt block with stock internals, EVO3 16G Turbo, FMIC, 3in full exhaust, running 15psi right now. I'm gonna b upgrading the fuel and computer next and running 20psi. so i need a good clutch.

I don't want a ACT 2600, due to the possibility of crank walk. I was talking to a local friend who suggested an ACT 2900 with a street disc.

Any and all help will be greatly apreciated thanks

The 2900 is heavier pressure than the 2600 thus increasing pressure on the thrust. Crank walk is so over rated. I would recommend a 2600 with an unsprung disk since it seems our cars love blowing springs out. If your at all interested I have an ACT heavy duty pressure plate with 6 puck unsprung for sale. It only has 1500 miles at most on it.

Just get the ACT 2600. When was the last time you heard someone REALLY getting crank walk? All you do is hear about it 'possibly' happening.

im hunting for a clutch also, i think im gonna order the Fidanza 3.2 this week. My stock doesnt like launches, holds 19psi great. Although after a few launches it starts to slip for a little while...

I would stay away from anything that's a puck and unsprung. Those style clutches do hell on the drivetrain. And being as your relatively stock you can def use the 2100 or 2600.
Out of curiosity how long did your clutch last and what exactly failed?

Look at the 3rd one, best one around so far, i have a built 7 bolt with this clutch and 500+awhp, the clamping pressure on this clutch is very little for 7 bolts

Pry gonna use this one!

It failed due to the master going bad and the clutch not disengauging and i roasted it in frustration! all i know is right now i have a brand new master and i put it in gear and go no where.

I would not recommend Fidenza, my 4.3 didn't last me 10K. They seem to have some quality control issues, as I'm not the only one who had issues with their clutches. Mine was also babied with no launches for 3K of that 10K.

I'm going with a Southbend setup, TZ/FE disk with the SS PP. This should be nice on the 7 bolt (2200-2300lb clamping) & should take the 450-500ft/lbs I plan on making. This is supposed to be a very streetable clutch that will hold up to mid 10 second passes.

I do not agree with that statement. The 2600 with 6 puck unsprung was not that harsh at all once you got used to it. Harshness is what kills drivetrain's. Plus how many stories do you see on here where people have blown springs out? Why not eliminate that issue all together...

My act 2600 with a sprung street disk has been holding up great for the last 12,000 miles. Running 25psi daily on my 2.4/evo3 and not being easy on it by any means. Plus I love the heavy pedel feeling it gives you. Over all I would say it is a great clutch for a daily driven sub 400 wtq car and would recommend it.

im in the same boat. similar setup. b16g, etc. went with a xtd stage 4 unsprung 6 puck. Dont get the stage 3 or the srpung one, they're crap, but the stage 4 rivals the act. best part is that its 180 shipped on ebay.

its also metal composite so with heat it actually grips better

I'm gonna end up using the third one due to a couple reasons. A) It'll hold my next big upgrade fairly well(2.4l stroker kit w/hx35) fairly well, B) The price is right in my price range, and C)I'm looking at it from a streetable driveability factor when it come to pedal and performce quality.

By the way once its in I'll post my comments on how it works.

thanx again for the help!

Look at south bend clutch, as well as competition clutch. Both make a very high quality piece. On 16g power You dont need anything more than a kevlar disk as its very street friendly as well.
