i just rebuilt my motor and everything was fine until we started hearing this whining nise coming from the turbo. checked for shaft play and it was done. so now im looking to get a turbo asap but arent sire if i should go with the evo316g or fp18g. im leaning towards the 18g since it is from forcedperformance and shuld be a solid turbo. just let me knw what you think. will the 650 injectors be a good fit for the 18g? thanks for the help

350whp max. i just want to be able to hit that safely since in on a stock bottom end. i know the 16g can hit that but the 18g will be able to alot easier. and i know, i still need a front mount before i can any decent amount of boost.LOL

18g would be a good choice but evo3's are pretty cheap...IMO do some reasearch on how to get 350whp on a 16g before you decide to get a 18g. Then you can weigh your options

The 650s are better suited with the 16g than the 18g IMO. And a bigger turbo doesn't neccessarily mean you will get lower horse power easier. 350hp with the 16g would feel a lot faster on the butt dyno than 350hp on a bigger laggier turbo. It all depends where your turbos efficiency range is. The 16g would be sitting nicely in its efficiency range at 350hp and would even have a little room to grow.

I agree stick with the evo for a while, and go from there you can hit that with the right mods, do some reading on it. There is lots of infor here, thats how i learned, im shooting for that one day, maybe not with this car.

I would just switch to a SS line with the right fitting at the 18g point. It gives you room to go bigger if you get a front mount. Like one guy said a slow spooling turbo is great on FWD.

i think im just gonna go with the evo316g. after doin some research i think it would preform better than the 18g with my current fuel mods. what do you guys think?

Go evo3 16g. It's been a tried and proven turbo time after time. Great little turbos with a big heart.

I'd probably go with the e316g!
I looked through your profile and you look to have all the supporting mods. The cams will definitely help with the 350whp, too.
Definitely look into upgrading your intercooler though, either a fmic or supra smic if you want to be sneaky.
You may also want to start looking into a better tuning device than the SAFC as well

i was having a similiar decision to make and with being fwd also i went with a 20g and a dual stage boost controller to control wheel spin and i am very pleased with the way it turned out. might look into it for your dsm

definitely made my decision. thats what im looking for, a good reliable turbo where i can still make a good amount of power on my stock bottom end without worrying about breaking things too much. i would love dsmlink but cant afford that right now so im stickin with the safc and 650's. one last question though, is there any place i can buy a intercooler pipe to connect the j pipe for the 16g to my sidemount? or will i just have to get one custom made? thanks for all the help

Depending on your J-pipe and IC piping, you should be able to use a reducing silicon elbow, similar to this to connect between your turbo and IC inlet. Just be sure to get the correct size to match up between your J-pipe and IC piping. You may also need one or two short pieces of tubing or another coupler as well, depending on your setup.

Shop around a bit... I just yanked a link to the first one I found so you could see what I was talking about :)

i just went to extremepsi today and picked up the 16g install kit and it looks like the jpipe ges towards the sidemount location, so i think that works out pretty well. i just wish i had more money, i woulda brought every part possible that i saw there. its soo addicting seeing all those new parts in person. haha but i also ordered the evo316g today with porting, costing only $614 shipped so i think that was a pretty good price. should be here sometime next week.
