I just finished rebuilding my 1990 gsx engine, with arp head studs and hks head gasket. the rest of the engine is stock excepet for a comp 264 cam set.
i will be running Extreme Turbo Systems 7" Street/Strip Front Mount Intercooler Kit 2g throtle body elbow, an evo III 16g, SBR Cast Exhaust Manifold, Apexi 3" turbo back exhaust no cat, walbro 255 pump weaponR fuel pressure regulator, ACT 2900 clutch kit stock flywheel
my problem is i don't know what engine manegemt to run and what sensors to buy with tham, i am basically going to be tunning the car my self i have all the tools to tune no dyno but open road which management system and sensor should i get? What injector size you recomend for this setup? can i reach safely 400hp out of this setup? what should i add or change from the parts list?

Thanks T...

Use DSMLink seriously
DSMLink Homepage

You def. want an aftermarket boost gauge and a wideband o2 sensor
Modern Automotive Performance #::#DSM #::#Electronics and Gauges #::#Gauges and Diagnostics #::#Auto Meter #::#Carbon Fiber #::#Auto Meter Carbon Fiber Ultra-Lite (2 1/16")
Modern Automotive Performance #::#DSM #::#Electronics and Gauges #::#Wideband 0xygen (O2) Sensors #::#AEM Gauge-Type Wideband UEGO Controller

Im running PTE 680cc injectors on 20 psi no problem I would go with FIC 750cc though
Modern Automotive Performance #::#DSM #::#Fuel and Nitrous #::#Fuel Injectors and Drivers #::#Fuel Injectors #::#Fuel Injector Clinic 750cc Injectors (DSM / Evo)

I would also go with a MBC
Modern Automotive Performance #::#DSM #::#Boost Controllers #::#Hallman #::#Hallman Evolution RX Boost Controller Kit

The only ppl I know making 400whp is SBR. They made over
400whp but they ran alot of boost and you would need some great fuel mods for this.

I hope all this helps you out :thumb:

If you want 400whp you will need at least 1150cc injectors and a Walbro 255 pump

i have the wideband gauge boost gauge manual boost controler and egt gauge, and i have the innovative wideband and rpm sensor for tunning and snapon modis for data logging. I was thinking on going with aem ems stadalone for management i know how to work with it from tunning my rx7 and rx8and my evo8, i am gona read up on dsmlink and the pricing and drivability, i am gona go with FIC 1150injectors and tune from there. what king of MAP sensor should i get?

DSMLink package w/socket service is that all i need to be able to fully tune it? and the GM MAP do i need to get a translator with that sensor?

you can also go with a motorola bar sensor, they come in 2.5,3,4,7 depending on the boost levels you want to run.

1150cc injectors are overkill for 400hp, and it will make it harder to tune the left side of your fuel tables.

880's should be more then enough, i have had good luck with precision injectors.

As for the EMS, i would recommend AEM, great systems, much more options then most EMS out there.

AEM offers Onboard Datalogging, Configurable Inputs/Outputs, PWM boost control, 2step, antilag, nitrous control, can run 4 coil drivers, offers built in wb02, individual cylinder trim, and more. Just some good points about the system.

I have a source for the 30-1300 box with the iat and 3bar for 1675 shipped if your interested send me a PM and i can put you in touch with the dealer.

1150's will NOT make tuning harder. Plenty of people use injectors that big with no driveabilty or tuning issues. The price difference between 880's and 1150's is very small so having the extra fuel can come in handy if you ever decide you want more hp.

hpexperts: If you use the GM or AEM map sensor with DSMlink you do not need any translator. You simply connect the output wire of the sensor to an open spot in the ecu (ex. EGR). So instead of the ecu reading information from the stock egr, it reads the output signal from your map sensor. Then you use your laptop to tell the ecu that the signal is coming from your particular map sensor and it will display the proper information for you to see on the screen. DSMlink offers support for GM 3 bar and AEM 3 and 5 bar map sensors. The map sensor is purely used for logging boost and it does not affect anything the car does.

Although AEM stand alone gives you more options, for tunability I would recommend DSM Link as well. Unless your experienced in tuning (fuel and timing maps, etc) DSM Link with its slider bars and percentages makes it very easy to tune, while at the same time, not limiting you in HP goals by simplifying it. It supports MAP sensors you need, and the biggest thing is the DSM Link forum, much like this one, that has thousands of peeople for troubleshooting. Not an 800 number to some tech support guy over the phone.

Yeah you just need an Eprom ECU and send it in to DSMLink and get what package you want with the socket service :thumb:
No you dont need a translator just look here for the available ECU inputs:

Hope this helps
