Well after problem after problem I have decided to do a rebuild at 160k. I am going to list the componets im using in the build below. The motor is a n/a 1g 6 bolt and I am building it for a DD. Right now I am leaning toward running it n/a to help with reliability but I mainly need opinions on Pistons. I want to be able to slap a small(14b or 16g at low boost) turbo on it later down the road when my funds are right. But for time being it will be n/a. Your thoughts are greatly appreciated.

Top End.
BC springs and retainers.
SS valves.
Bronze guides
Viton valve seals
3g lifters

Bottom end.
ACL tri-metal Race main and rod bearings
OEM BSEK
OEM timing kit
Topline water pump.
OEM oil pump
2g .20 topline ceramic coated pistons.

Im glad you think that but this is the route im taking. I dont wanna have oil squirters fail on me like happend in my GSX 2 times so I am using a n/t block.

I wouldn't recommend using cast pistons without OS. I'm not saying it's going to hurt the pistons, it's just that with the cylinder pressures and temps your going to be seeing, you'll want all the insurance you can get. Just my 2 cents. Other then that your list looks ok. The stainless valves aren't needed at this point (I don't feel) but it's your money. I would also recommend looking at the Manley springs over the BC's. What cams are you going to be running? What hp or track time are you shooting for?

So you think forged Pistons is the way top go on the N/A block? I would like to see in the range of 300 to 350 hp out of it once I get the extra money for Cams loggers turbo ect. I am not the type to constantly beat a vehical just the occasional 2nd or 3rd pull. But for now Its gonna remain N/T. Ill look into the Manley springs

save up for a forged pistons once you slap on the turbo. those topline pistons or the oem n/a pistons wont cut it. but you can use the 6 bolt n/a rods coz it's the same with the 4g63t engines.

you can also look into buying 2g pistons and mate it with the 6 bolt rods. there's tons of articles here on how to do it. just do the search.

also try looking at nippon racing pistons. i believe theyre the same company that manufactures oem 2g turbo pistons.

I would not waste your money on the BC spring+ retainer kit if you plan on running stock or mild cams, also not a good choice for a daliy driver, same goes for the ACL race bearings in a daily driver? Both will not get you the durability of stock parts. As far as pistons just stick with 1g pistons they handle plenty of power in a daily driver why waste the money for the machine work to run 2g pistons.

Well I think for now im gonna go with 1g n/t pistons with new rings and bearings Graveyard stock head rebuild and BSEK. Keep it as a n/t DD. Ill save my money and extra parts for the 4g63T mighty max build:thumb:
