Okay, I have a ported FPB28 and I have it fairly tuned with the DSMLINK. With this turbo I am flowing 36LBS of air at 22 PSI. The main thing that I like about it is that it HITS HARD. I am attaching a DSMLink log for you to view. (You will need to rename it from a .txt file to a .dat file) When cruising at 3k rpm (not boosting) and then going WOT I get 25LBS of airflow (not boost) within 1.3 seconds. In 4.5 seconds I have 35LBS.

Now I have been reviewing a ton of other logs. Everything from EVO3 16G to the SCM50 trim and nothing I can find even comes close to moving that kind of air that fast. Many can say "I get 16 psi by xxxx RPM" but PSI means squat. Airflow is what mattters. Hell most of the SCM logs I viewed weren't even flowing what my BIG 28 does on top end unless they had cams yet their down low was spongy at best.

I am looking for the next turbo up that HITS HARD. I know some of you will say an FP GREEN but I have ridden in a DSMLink tuned car with a green and even though it pulled nicely up top (45LBS) it definately didn't feel snappy between shifts and such.

I guess I am looking for actual reviews and if possible LOG FILES to show how your turbo performs. To me the SCM50 and FP GREEN are just too sluggish to trip my trigger. Does anyone have any TDO5, TDO6, and TDO6H 20G log files or reviews to provide? Please let us know how much air you are flowing and whether or not you have cams and such.

On stock 7 bolt head and cams, I basically have instant spool move 36LBS of air. I am looking for something that can move 44LBS yet still hit hard. Outside of a minimal EVO3 16G upgrade what is my best option?

Well a green hits harder than a 20g with the td06h wheel, not alot but it does. a 20g with a td06h won't spool until the same rpm as a green. And all you friend with a green could flow was 45lb/min? I flow 45lb/min right now with my EVO16g. If thats all the Green can flow i might be looking to upgrade to something different cause i was originally panning on going with a green as my next turbo upgrade.

What about the SBR-GT10 or the SBR-GT11. I contacted SBR inquiring about the GT10 and they told me it would make full boost by 3000rpms. However, I'm not sure about airflow numbers. You should check'em out.

If someone actaully had one of these it would be great to hear how it performs. I know the Green certainly didn't hit hard and it definately wasn't at full boost before 3500. I didn't really expect it to be since its an old school turbo. I am looking for DBB reviews. Whats the GT30R like? I am not looking to pick up too much more top end. I would hate to give up 900RPM of spool for a few LBS of air up top. At the strip that lag might be tolerable but on a real track or even aggressive driving around town I dont think I would enjoy my car nearly as much as I do now.

The 3052 is a GT30 based turbo but honestly that is more for a fully built motor and a driver that wants to run 30PSI. The cost associated with that turbo is also very high. You are looking a $2000 for the trubo, elbow, O2 housing, and wastegate.

If the above mentioned turbo's actually did spool at 3000 that would be acceptable.

As for the guy with a 45LB EVO3....that is impressive. What is your trap speed?

Make sure you have the latest code. I just tried it again from my work PC and it was fine.

I'm in the same boat you are. Basically I love that my FPB28 feels like a 75 shot of nitrous but I wish it would pull in 4th gear like it does in 2nd gear. I think you will get that with any turbo you purchase right up to the point were you get traction limited in the lower gears.

From all the research I have done you just wont find a modern turbo that hits like a B28. Not very many people use these cars for road racing. They are primarily straight line performance machines. That being said even the GT30R is gonna have you missing your quick spool. Its because those turbos are 50LB/min units. No one is building a medium sized DBB turbo because they cannot compete with the E316B price and performance.

The best option that you have is the EVO3 16G and a nice set of FP1 cams. This will retain stock low RPM feel and allow for a nich high PSI top end. With a nice FMIC you should be able to get 44LBS/min out of that turbo and still have similar spool. So far nothing I have ridden in comes close to the HIT that the B28 provides. The FPB28 especially when enhanced with port work is a nearly perfect turbo for a 2G.

If you want added top end just for the strip slap on a 50 shot of nitrous and hold on.

Most GT10's with proper mods flow 42-44 lbs/min.

In my honest opinion, its a great turbo, but we have also seen 42-44 lbs/min on the MHI Evo 16g.

Most GT11's flow 44-48 lbs/min, my GT12 from a few years back hit real hard at 3600 and moved just over 50 lbs/min at 23 PSI.
