hey guys I need some help i am totally stuck as to what is wrong with my car. I am not sure if some of you will remember my post about what happened but i was on the free way and it felt like my drive train locked up. Well i fought with the dealer to have them check the Xfer case they didn't want to look at it so i took it to my regualr guy to have it fixed and he droped the xfer case and it was fine he said it felt like a callaposed center diff so he droped the tranny opened it up and everything was fine no problems or anything. He then checked the rear end and it was fine no metal flakes or anything in it. I am stuck as to what this problem is. I have one thing it could be that is being checked out right now. I did just put a 4 bolt rear end in the car and the only thing i can think of at this point is that the rear end came from a AT AWD dsm I do know they are geared diffrent i can't remember off the top of my head what the gears out. If this was the case woudln't the car just not run right period? The problem happened the first time i took it on the free way since the swap. I was doing about 60ish. The way i see it two heads are better then one and if any of you got some ideas as to what the problem might be let me hear i am out of idea and i am tired of having a 3200 paper weight. i want to drive my car already:cry:

well if you have all the parts to the three bolt swap it back on and see if the problem goes away, thats about all the info i got sorry

I wonder if i would be able to swap the gears from the 3 bolt to the 4 bolt. i posted in the tranny forum but no one answered me yet.

you cant do it. the splines are different on the shaft. i think you may very well have an auto rear end. sorry bout that. put the three bolt back in to make sure.

you know, i ask my sack that very same thing every weekend:)

thats two votes for puttin the three bolt back on, i always feel so smart when someone agrees with me :thumb: ...

what are we doin this weekend??? im pretty sure this weekend was yuba 2?

haha ewww i dont wanna hear.

if the cops come after you gloria ill take over and speed by them, itll be cool LOL

I dont know if the bolt pattern is the same, but if it is, you could bolt the ring gear from the 3 bolt to the 4 bolt diff to get the correct gear ratio. You CANNOT run an auto rear end (due to a different gear ratio) or it'll gernade 1 of three parts. The transfer case, centerdiff, or VC. My bet is the Transfer case is locked up. If the trans wont rotate with the t-case on, but will with it off, then there ya go. You'll have to drop the t-case to check.

The One

i checked the T case and it is fine. I do have a welded center diff and the rear end gears are fine. I will give the T case another look. I am going to try the ring gear swap but i am not sure if they are the same size. I will give it a try this weekend and let you guys know. I am taking the welded center diff out and puting a normal one it. My frist guess was it was the T case too.
