Yup it was covered in nasty oil whatever nasty residue. My block does has CW, so I guess it was rebuilt and walked again. What are my options internal wise if I had a machine shop clean up block? Obviously stock wont work

What the? I have never seen those sticekrs on rebult blocks before. Good idea to do it though.

Its not a sticker. Its like a hard plate tin thing.

What should I expect for a rebuild $$$$$

also what is that thing behind the plate in the block? Its not a normal cap like the rest of the block

Do you guys think that the machine shop would be able to clean it up, and replace everything internally with stock? Stock internals are alot cheaper on the pocket book new

well I just got my head back from the machine shop from a complete Stainless Steer Helicoil job. They said they could redo my block to make sure it would work for me. I told them it has been reman before and now it CW, and they still said dont worry, it will be just fine. they want to see the block and check for clearance and bearings and crank. Not knowing the story of my talon, they machine shop guy literally told me the story on how my motor became the way it did, from the bad turbo, ect. Im considering taking it in to them to see if they can really fix it and give me some kind of warrently. He swears up and down it wont CW again if they fix it the right way?

If it truely walked I would just find a new block and start from there... I am spending like 2.4k on my build.. but my list is pretty big LOL...

?

I don't know the exact name for it, but its for warranty reasons from the reman place. If you overheat the engine that falls off, and your warranty is void.

aboutt the "button" in the freeze plug...

your close... but it does not have to fall off.. just have the center melt out, at 240* the center will roll out ant 260* there will be no trace of it... but where that one is, its a bad locaton, right behind and under the turbo manifold

the block mave be saved, depends on how bad the crank walked, the thust area of the main will have to be inspected, but normally the crank thrust face takes the damage.

are you running a heavy aftermarket clutch set up?

Crankwalk is over rated. Just had to get that out there for all of the crankwalk naysayers. Don't reuse the block, if it walked it will walk again. All of the many cw blocks i've come across have had a thrust surface that isn't perpendicular to the crank centerline.

What machine shop is this? Is it Buddy's near TCC? Ask the owner to give you a full warranty with parts and labor included IN WRITING, if he is so sure that it won't crankwalk again "if it is fixed the right way". I am not aware of any shops in Tally that know anything about 4G63 motors.

Don't rebuild it the same block, buy another one. You can sometimes find 4G63 blocks at Pick-n-Pull on Woodville Highway. I saw a 2nd turbo DSM last time I was there. Feel free to call my cell, the number is on my website which is linked on the contact page of my DSMTuners profile.

Actually it was Buddy Machine shop in Tallahassee off pensacola street. Here is the head after a FULL Stainless Steel helicoil. I paid the extra $25 and had every VC bolt and exhaust mani SS threaded. I still cant believe it cost me $200 just for a helicoil job, but my god I had the worst exhaust leak, but NO more LOL

This is what I kept telling him. Theres no real fix to CW. Its best to just find a new good block. I agree with tenn-gsx a bad turbo has nothing to do with CW. He may have done a good job on your head but I wouldnt waist any more money on your block. Id had to see you have it rebuild and it walks a few 100 miles later. Just keep looking for a block that you can just drop in and go.
